@Fransexy

Here here.. agreed

Who would want that silly little device that lets you talk without wires? What do they call it? Radiah? Oh! Radio! Yes... silly contraption.

I for one welcome our new Amiga overlords... er... new ideas from Amiga and look forward to more updates. It seems to me they learned from their past mistakes and being quiet too long can hurt things. Even something that sez "Um we're still working on it but you're gonna love it!" IMHO is better then the silence we endured for so long. I see it as they know they screwed up and want to move on to a better way of doing things. I'm a forgiving man by nature and yes have been screwed over a time or two.

But that is just my skewed ramblings, and MMMV

The exact phrase:

Quote:

The product that we are going to ship is going to be much better than OSX from Apple

"going to be" is equal to "want to be"/"planned to be".

"going to be" is stating a positive.

"want to be" or "planned to be" is not.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

if OS5 is not OS4 based, simply i don't want OS5. I'm waiting OS4 for a long time, now.

I want OS4 first!!!

Aren't you a bit tired of people having the last laugh on you these past few years? When I think of all the things you've supported, Eyetech, the AmigaOne, even AmigaAnywhere a few times... You've pretty much squandered whatever credibility you started with, and since you avoided buying an A1 while acting as the "unofficial" sponsor for Eyetech - it didn't help your credibility any. Now it looks like you're gearing up to be the "unofficial" sponsor for AInc.? Please, give it a rest...

No laughing is healthy, but I don't think some of the ancient critics posting within this thread really laugh when they write LOL_lol_LOL and stuff like that most of the time... If they do, then more power to (you/) them. IMO in the first place Amiga is all about having some fun.

So what? I am grateful for how well AmigaOS4 has developed so far. Without all the OS4/A1 developers this wouldn't have been possible. And I also still support the general idea behind AmigaAnywhere, , my view on future software development originates from well before Amiga Inc started to co-operate with the Tao Group.

What a bold statement! You got my attention and I like the attitude

Quote:
scalable, embeddable, multi-threaded, memory protected operating system or digital environment that would run from a cell phone to a server

I have been waiting for a new OS with the virtues of the AmigaOS look-and-feel, the Unix security and the JavaVM execution enviroment all built-in and tighly integrated. If that product will be from Amiga the better.

Somebody get Bill a beer... I think he's been drinking the Kool-Aid long enough.

That said, I would like to see them succeed in some aspects. I'd be nice to hook my cell phone up to the miggy and have everything auto-sync. I'd also like a program similar to Visual Messenger that could store all my phone messages, faxes, files sent, etc. Give me that kind of inter-operability and I'd be a happy man, singing Amiga Inc's praises whereever I go.

One comment from the interviewer struck me as odd: when exactly did one of the Friedens comment that a port to x86 was a fairly minor effort in the 'few months' timeframe?

I seem to recall both brothers maintaining that neither would ever become involved in any migration efforts to an x86-based architecture.

Did the attitude change somewhere along the line?

I think Bill is more aiming at this:

a scalable, embeddable, multi-threaded, memory protected operating system or digital environment that would run from a cell phone to a server

Talking up your products is all well and good, you have to have confidence in them or whats the point, however that statement just makes Bill look...well for the want of a better phrase...a bit of a Helgis!

Helgis is like agent Smith in Matrix Reloaded, anyone helgis touches converts him on a copy of itself.Due to the behavior that Bill has these times i hardly believe that Helgis touch him

To all you naysayers, do you have any evidence to the contrary? Have you used OS5?

Dubbing it (whatever 'it' is) OS5 would seem to indicate it is the next step after OS4 and in some way better than OS4, we know OS4 is pretty damn good, indeed many of us desperately what a computer to run OS4 on!

Whose to say OS5 isn't better than OSX? Yes OSX is good and was stunning 5-6 years back but I'm sure it's not unbeatable today.

Also, in what way does Bill mean 'better': if we're talking about memory footprint OS4 already beats OSX hands down and Amiga have always been clear in their intention to continue the small footprint/efficient OS model.

Amiga's purchase of Ruksun has aquired them a number of internet apps, and persumably people with the skills to design web browsers etc. (judging by Ruksun's product line), software perhaps destined for integration into OS4/5?

These apps have already appeared in there AmigaAnywhere line up. The OS4 site also has an interesting OS4 PDA display, which Hyperion would not let on as to whether it was a mockup or the real thing. Food for thought.

The PDA was an IBM prototype. It never ever materialized and
AFAIK there have never been any other PPC PDA.

They are all Xscale and ARM. Forget about PPC in the PDA market.
