News   News : Gary Peake passed away
posted by Seer on 8-Nov-2006 21:22:06 (4611 reads)
Gary Peake passed away this week after a hard struggle with cancer and put up a good fight. He would want all of his friends to know how very much they meant to him.

Gary was known in the Amiga world as a founding member of Team AMIGA with Rick Lembree. He also worked for Amiga Inc for a while in the hope to help bring the Amiga back. He was diagnosed with metastasized lung cancer and a brain tumor a few months ago.

For an interview with Gary please download Total Amiga

This thread is forwarded to his family so they know how well known and loved Gary was by many.

Rest in peace Gary. Thank you for all you did.

Really sorry to hear this bad news. My condolences to Gary's family. Lung cancer is a horrible way to go, but it sounds like the brain cancer did him in first. I had cancer myself 14 years ago and am fortunate to be alive.
I remember a number years ago speaking to him about development of Amiga OS.
I also remember him in person at some of the Amiga St. Louis shows.
Life is fleeting.

I remember speaking to Gary over the phone about 5 years ago. He was a really nice guy. I had no idea he was sick. :(

My deepest condolences to his family and friends . . .

I'm shocked by this sad event :( It' some months I don't get TeamAmiga anymore....

My condolescences to his family.

It would be a great idea to dedicate OS4 to him, after all his work he did in many years that he will not see finished...

On behalf of Gary's family, especially his wife Linda and their two children Jon and Jennifer, I would like to thank each of you for your kind words about my brother. May God bless and keep you all safe.

I may have disagreed with him on many things, but Gary was passionate about what he believed in.

Gary was very passionate about the Amiga, and it's future. One of the few who put his money where his mouth was, and risked his future on the Amiga by joining Amiga Inc. To do that took a lot of guts, something many of the critics wouldn't be able to do.

Gary had many critics while at Amiga Inc. It took a strong, determined man to bet the farm on the future of the Amiga, and withstand everything the lunatic fringe threw at him as well. A lesser man would have said 'to hell with this!' and packed it in.

He brought something to the Amiga community. He will be missed.

Too young, too soon.

It's been over 4 years now, but Gary, you are still missed very much.
