Yes, but unfortunately this isn't the first time hearing this...without results.

You still have at least one persons motherboard for what, over a year now?

"PV in production"
"CPU modules at show"

etc etc. The list really goes on.

If something comes of it, and there is actually hardware to purchase, _and_ it runs OS4, then it's easy enough to change some people's opinions, and I'm sure there will be people to purchase it. However, until then, words are unlikely to change those opinions at this point.

Strange how easily AINC team up with some, but
when it comes to Acube systems they have
had their lips sealed for a very long time.

I'll just throw an idea out there.. maybe Amiga Inc didnt feel like they needed to announce ACubes hardware because ACube already have their own website with announced specs etc?

And ... If Amiga, Inc. has a deal with ACK, maybe pushing SAM isn't in their best intrest at the moment?

@wegster, I bet Adam has a very good reason for the criticism you mention. Good to see at least the aw.net staff is keeping the spirit up ... Hmmm ..

You're adding on to my line of thought, but that wasnt what I was thinking at all. They've already expressed they want OS4 on multiple platforms.

Adam I have always beleaved in your skills.. and have not doubted that you whould bring in new hardware, but your timelines simply do not hold water.

I must say that I'm really disapointed with the way you handled you buisness with mr. Schönfeld.. that is not good pr. my friend, also now that, that deal fell throu it proberly means we will not see any A1200 acc. card. double disapointment.

@jahc & shoe

My first thought when reading the announcement wasn't about Acube, I immediately thought "What does this mean for Hyperion? Are they still involved in "NG affairs"? What does this mean for the future of OS4?"

Maybe Amiga Inc. and Hyperion in fact came to an agreement which stipulates that Amiga Inc. will handle all "NG affairs" on their own, while Hyperion/ACube will only be involved in development/sales of OS4 for CyberstormPPC/BlizzardPPC. ACube could still negotiate with Amiga Inc. on licensing for SAM, but all revenues would go to Amiga Inc.

Or what is your conclusion from the fact that Hyperion doesn't appear anywhere in this "announcement"? Only an oversight?

I thought the focus was on announcing new hardware was coming soon. If/when they announce that hardware is shipping, then I imagine os4 would be mentioned more thoroughly. I dont know if they will want to announce to the world that they used a 3rd party to do it for them. Who knows?

Thanks for writing Adam. I'm sure everybody who wants to sell Amiga do it for passion... it is not the problem. But amigans need someone who really cares about comunity, supportive with presence. Naturally it is your business after all, but i suggest:
1-Create a website
2-Comunicate (as you're doing now) on comunity website, especially until your website isn't ready.
3-Resolve your problems, if they exist. In our Amiga land we must be unite, i hope you can fix your problem with Jens.

And remember... Amiga comunity is not only a market, a passion... but a source for help. I'm pretty sure that a lot of users would help you to build a cool and complete website or help you with PR or thing like this.

Again we all appreciate you work.. but do it in the right way

Thanks Adam.

No offense intended, but that thought is ridiculous. Do we really have to *make up* explanations to why a simple thing as posting the same PR on both parties sites (as customary) didn't happen?

At the moment nobody can claim to have new hardware specifically for OS4 because if they arent working with the owners of OS4 (and therefore the people in a position to legally sanction/license a port) then its legally a sticky situation - and nobody wants that do they...

So top of any questions is still - who owns OS4 and the rights to license it to new hardware? (Presuming they are one and the same).

If you own "further development rights" then just add a line of code and call it OS5?

Doesn't even have to be anything as "final" as that... Showing a prototype board successfully booting Linux (or even failing with error message while trying to), non-functional prototype board or even a photo of it... Or if everything else fails, at least a D-Paint picture of the intended board layout

Anything from the list would likely raise everyones hopes.

@jupp3

I agree with you that there has to be substance and soon, but IMHO, anyone showing only d-paint images of (even valid and well designed) hardware should be stoned.

@ACKcontrols

I'm very much looking forward to buying a new system this summer. Thanks for your efforts. Some of us truly appreciate it.

@ackcontrls

So the "Amiga operating system" mentioned in the press release realy is OS4 and not Linux with an integrated OS3.1 emulator. That is good. Thanks for telling us.

Can you please give us more information about the upcomming hardware?
I need to know the specs and see evidence that it indeed runs OS4
before I can order something.

Kind regards,

Dennis

I hate to tell you, but Amiga Inc has expressed a lot of things that
never happened.

ackcontrol:
The way you have handled your PR has so far been worse than
most other companies in the history of man-kind.. Why didn't you
show up at the two demos you were supposed to do last summer?
Did you say something to those who actually showed up? Did you
tell then that you were sorry?

With this track-record you can't be surprised that people are very
critical and sceptic towards everything you do.

Title of the "news" is "New Hardware Designs", not "New hardware".
Followed by "Two New Hardware Designs"...
Followed by "After months of designs"
Followed by "I have been working on these designs"
Followed by "have been able to create two new designs"
Followed by "ACK and Amiga have spent many months working on designs"

Forgive me for quoting just these snippets, but don't you think there is more talk in this press release about "designs" than hardware?

I'm not concerned about the critical nature of people nor the scepticism at all. Frankly, the way I see the situation is that the released hardware will speak for itself. I don't have to explain, nor the time to explain, in any level of detail of how or why it will happen. It just will. Period.

@ironfist
I don't think there is any point in harassing ACK about his past mistakes, as they already happened, and too much time has passed for him to do anything about them now. (Well, certain mistakes still seem to be on-going, but I don't think you're going to get an answer from him about those either.)

I'm far more interested in the here & now: What is the status of his hardware "designs"? (e.g. still on the drawing board? buggy but working? already running OS4 flawlessly?) What is his arrangement with Amiga Inc & Hyperion? Who's going to pay for the manufacturing? etc.

edit: Seems ACK posted a reply just before I did! I find it sad that he is now active on these boards, but apparently "doesn't have the time" to answer any questions.
