I have a bug report too. When javascript is enabled, any changes to form components (text fields, cycle gadgets, checkboxes...) are lost after submit. So going back to that page is no use really.

Installed and working like a charm, thanks! Also, it is very speedy. Job well done.

@broadblues

Nice update, seems a bit faster. However, all my ghosted buttons are now bright blue? Any ideas? I'd rather not wipe out my prefs because that means I have to set them up again!

Chris
PS it would be good for the window to just display in the correct charset under OS4 rather than converting to the set one (which I can't set to the same as my system default anyway)

I'm glad there some noticable improvements for you.

Another important improvement for me is that radio buttons on sites I visit now work properly.

With reference to Javascript I commented about being able to see the NZ Herald
site. Not all goes well there though in that switching pages on that sites still
takes a long time because Javascript keeps doing its thing. Thus iBrowse takes
from 3 to 6 seconds and AWeb 19 to 22 seconds. With javascript turned off on
AWeb the change drops to approx 7 seconds. On sites like Amigaworld using the
forward and back arrows is too fast to measure and initial loading is
impressively fast. Animated banners on the Herald site do not display properly
yet but perhaps there is something I could configure to improve that.

I noted the invitation implicit in the offer during installation to install
the developer version alongside. I hope that moves things along for you. What
you accomplish on your own is awesome.

Are there any screenshots of 'Borderless Windows' when compared to the default setting?

Kind regards,

Does the mouse scroll wheel work with AWeb now? That's something I really miss now that I'm used to it.

Very odd, are you running AWeb on it's own screen? Did this happen before you updated to 3.5.09?

I've never seen this before, but I get it now if set AWeb to run on it's own screen. It's not just AWeb buttons but AWebCFG buttons as well, so the colours for reaction of got screwed up when AWeb runs on it's own screen. This seems to happen with 3.5.08 too.

I've not run AWeb on it's own screen since the July update, is there anyone out there with a pre july update os4 that is geting these blue buttons?

There are still some issues with the javascript, many sites are using these "compressed" javascript function libraries, the javascript code upacks itself, using nested calls to eval. AWeb's javascript can't garbage collect properly during these calls due to design problems and this results in the slow down.

On some sites, notably paypal, spoofing as MISE 5.5 + avoids this code and AWeb runs quickly once more, not all though.

The problem is virtually unsolvable and the interpreter design is also outdated, so the next AWeb version will use a spidermonkey based javascript engine. I actually have a working spidermonkey.aweblib but the API cannot be made to fit the existing javascript.aweblib API so AWeb's DOM ineterface will need a rewrite to use it. This might take some time.

WRT to animated banners, if they are gif tey should display, if they are anything more complex, they will likely not work.

Yes, running on it's own screen, and it was OK under v3.5.08 (even with July update)

The problem with blue buttons was before os4 july update. It was with a special version of aweb some time ago. I dont remember from which beta it was but i think i wrote on the aweb maillist for a long time ago about the problem but if i remember right noone replyed.

I always delete mails so i cant look back. Maybe anyone is keeping their mails and can check mail from me. I believe i also gave a link to the buttons i remade that is on aminet to be tested. Maybe search for the link as string in yam and you maybe find me mail.

Sys:Prefs/GUI_gadgets supply the buttons, IIRC

I've changed the "pen" settings under "palette" in "program settings" to match
those used in prefs/palette. This fixes the "blue buttons".

Faster and more stable. Great job! Keep working on getting major web sites to display and behave correctly and I may be able to return to using my Amiga as my primary computer. Thanks.
