   posted by pvanni on 20-Jan-2008 21:16:36 (9400 reads)
Tubexx it's a client for youtube written by Paolo Germano
using RxMui, with Tubexx you can find, play and download

in divx or dvd format so you can see them on your player of choice.
All this whith a comfortable mui interface.
Paolo Germano realised it for MOS/MUI4 version, I ported it for OS4/MUI3.
Tubexx use mplayer to see videos and ffmpeg for the conversion.
There are so much possibilities built in Tubexx and you can find them

Yes, this ia great tool. I am using it on MOS since a couple of days
and am quite happy with it. Flayer is/was handy, but Tubexx is pure
joy.

Tubexx is awsome. Now, I can really surface YouTube without needing a PC, and since I don't have a PC at home, this means I can surf YouTube now!

A bunch of to the author and to the porter to OS4!

Hi,

PNG_IMG is installed and still no icons in Tubexx (looks
ugly), any idea what else is missing?

Thank you.

For icons you mean those on the buttons mail, play, down etc.?
If this it's the case probably it's some different MUI classes.

Check for a start point TheBar.

Isn't it great that MorphOS developers are NOT prejudice/bigots and actually support having their apps ported to OS4!

I'm sick and tired of the way developers are treated in this community, its time for change!

@pvanni

Hi,

Yes that what I mean, instead of the icons I have the shape draw in black and the fonts is really too small, I'll send the screen tonight and you will see what exactly is happening.

I check the requirement and I have everything, in the Mui Classes I have one of the item that my version is more recent, it should not be a problem!

Thank you.

Icons are normally black when are disabled, try to search some videos
and select al least one and look if something changes.

@pvanni

Thanks for the script. It is nice to see that you ported some software to OS4,
but installing this thing is going to be a lot of work:

The archive contains a lot of junk files (png pictures named #?.info and scrips
that are displayed instead of executed when I click on them) The documentation
included is the same as for the MOS version and there is no installer provided.
It requires an enormous amount of third party software that is not included. I
already had mplayer, but I still had to find and download the rest:
mcc_thebar.lha 955328 - http://os4depot.net/download.php?file=library/mui/mcc_thebar.lha
ffmpeg.lha 10692559 - http://os4depot.net/download.php?file=video/convert/ffmpeg.lha
wget-bin.tar.gz 294044 - http://os4depot.net/download.php?file=utility/misc/wget-bin.tar.gz
grep.lha 1163475 - http://os4depot.net/download.php?file=utility/filetool/grep.lha
MCC_Urltext.lha 34306 - http://uk.aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_Urltext.lha
MCC_HTMLview-13.4.lha 714911 - http://dk.aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_HTMLview-13.4.lha
MCC_BBalance.lha 62145 - http://de5.aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_BBalance.lha
HTTPResume.lha 119692 - http://de5.aminet.net/comm/www/HTTPResume.lha
rxmui.lha 954763 - http://de4.aminet.net/util/rexx/rxmui.lha
xsltproc.lha 1443260 - http://www.severin.f2s.com/xsltproc.lha

But thanks anyway. I'm going to try to install this stuf now.

Kind regards,

Dennis

@A3000 Its not only Tubexx that uses that mui libs so when you next time install some other soft that needs them they will work.

Now... how much time did it take the coder to make this script and the images.
all the testings etc. And you people talk about files ;)
Sure i would also like to have all the stuff in one package under one progdir :)

@DarthX

Yeah, because that never happens the other way *cough*Wookiechat*cough*

Oh, and btw, the only reason Hivelytracker isn't MOS native is that buzz has so far been unable to make a working mos build (he still intends to fix it, though, afaik).

@A3000T ,

I don't know which archive you have downloaded, in the OS4 Tubexx archive
there are only 4 icons:
1) Documentation: it launch your browser of choice using openurl
2) Leggimi_OS4: the OS4 readme in italian language opened with multiview
3) Readme_OS4: the OS4 readme in english language opened with multiview
4) Tubexx: imagine what this icon can do

No others .info files, if you have the #?.png.info maybe you have eastern installed
and you have looked at the hidden (with no .info) drawers and eastern made the .info
for you.

Maybe you also like some other users prefer to downlod the same tool everytime a
package use it, even with fast internet connection I prefer small downlads.

@pvanni

I got Tubexx to work. The gui uses strange colours for the fonts and I had to download another version of mplayer, because the one I already had doesn't work with Tubexx. But I works realy well now.

No, the OS4 Tubexx archive doesn't contain any icons at all. The #?.info files in the archive are png pictures, not icons. But it doesn't realy matter. It was easy enough to make a real icon for the Tubexx script and set Iconx as the
default tool.

>Maybe you also like some other users prefer to downlod the same tool everytime

I prefer small downloads too, but the problem is the availability of the other files. Tubexx requires 11 third party programmes and libraries. As time goes by, it will get harder and harder to find them all. And you also need the correct versions. I don't expect all 11 3rd party archives to be available and compatible for long, so IMHO it is better to download a tool several times than being unable to find the (correct version of) a tool at all.

kind regards,

Dennis

That is possible, but it is more likely that I'll just need to download a newer version of whatever it requires.

You're right. I should be thanking the coder instead of complaining about some minor inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Dennis

@ Severin
For lazy beggers like myself you can just download the xsltproc file from HERE.

When an amigan needs an amigaos/mos related stuff the place he searches first of all is AMINET.
I've found xsltproc just right there :)

@r-tea,
some people reported problems with the aminet version of xsltproc,
this is why I suggested the Cygnix version.

they are icons (PNG icons)

Of course if you dont have the png.iconmodule installed, you will get only PNG images.

@A3000T

I `ll have to add
https://www.linguistik.uni-erlangen.de/~msbethke/binaries/MCC_Guigfx.lha
http://se.os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=network/misc/openurl.lha

Is there a way to manualy setup the paths? I think there is an env directory...

@Cass,
If you mean the paths of mplayer, ffmpeg etc. yes there is an env directory
inside the Tubexx directory, but I never tried to set them manually
