| Why not making multiple pressing of left/right/GUI keys speed up the playback? Like once=50 fps, twice=100 fps, third=200 fps, forth=500 fps and fifth=1000 fps.
Example 50 fps=viewing of every second frame.
Then have the GUI/screen show what playback speed is used. 1x, 2x, 4x and whatever..
EDIT: Great update btw.. I can't test it though as I have no A1 no more..
Btw most movie players use this way on Windows anyway. Last edited by Samwel on 20-Feb-2008 at 01:25 AM.

You mean if you press a button it starts to continuously go faster like on an actual DVD player, skipping every 2nd frame or so. That can easily be achieved for fast forwarding in MPEG/DVD because it has B frames which you can just skip the decoding of, however with other formats that doesn't work very well unless your CPU is much faster than what is is needed to play the videos as you can't just skip any frame here and there since every frame requires the previous one to be decoded unless it's a keyframe, which is put into the file every 3-5 seconds or so in DivX/XviD or similar files. So the only option there to "fast forward" is to jump to the next keyframe. It's not easy to come up with an approach which works well for all types of files/codecs. |

| The idea to use 1x,2x,3x etc is nice but it would go some people on the nerves :) specially if you just want to skip some frames and not let it fastforward until you press on play again. maybe another button |

| A shuttle dial/slider would work well for variable-speed fast-forwarding.

| Seems a great program , even if the OS4 bundle version never displayed video on me. I`ve noticed decoded frames when I moved the window (just a glimpse, I can`t watch a whole movie by constantly dragging the window), while listening to the audio track, properly played back! I think it has to do with the direct Video Memory access ( CV3D here). _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Louis: Pretty much.

No, that hardware is not capable of playing DVDs at full speed without frame-skipping. |

That's a neat approach, although for a computer-based player I still prefer the seek slider :) |

How about the new version 0.65, does this problem still exist? |

| So I take it this can't be used to update the OS4 version? |

The OS4-Special Edition is a special version which is free, does not contain the demo limitations (e.g. 7 minute timeout, no fullscreen, 7 second countdown at start), but does not have AVI and ASF/WMV file support like the full version and is fixed to the special OS4SE skin. If you registered DvPlayer, then there's no reason to use the OS4SE version, and you should use the latest registered version instead obviously. If you did not register, then you should not replace the OS4SE version with the demo version, the demo is only for you to try it and see if you like it enough to register it |

| Hmmm. Anyone else having problems with DVD playback since the update? I'm using the latest avcodec.library (had to update that too) and now I end up with no audio at all except for squelches, hisses and pops on DVDs that were previously rock solid. Seems that I also need to update the a52 codec...
Do I have to update any other libs other than the (just downloaded) a52_codec? _________________ logicalheart wrote: You know that pretty sound you play when the computer starts? You need another one to play when the computer is actually ready to use. Maybe add more for malfunctions and then we'll have music all day.
