The theme for OS4.1 in the press release has had a facelift, so, just so you all know... that one referenced earlier, is NOT the official theme.

@codesmith:

apparently they only changed the "official default theme", but not the initial press release itself. Well, maybe they don´t dare to show off the new default theme to avoid any further discussions...

man, what´s so difficult about it? Show it and prove that the GUI is as changeable as announced, it´s that simple. Maybe some folks won´t like this one, too, but if it is a little bit more sophisticated than the last one I bet most people will like it and support it.

Regards

Why are you people so in hurry with the GUI looks. Take it easy folks. When they release new pictures we will know.

You've got to love all the conspiracy theories. There's obviously far too much idle time around, can I have some?

User interface nigglies aside, there are a number of *huge* features in this upcoming release. I don't know how anyone can downplay what is coming.

As for the UI nigglies, from every series of complaints lies an opportunity. I would suggest that Hyperion provide clear documentation of how to create an OS 4.1 UI theme. Hyperion and/or Amigaworld could then create a competition with some prizes.

This would give the users with the suggestions/complaints somewhere to go to show off and perhaps pick up some cash/prestige in the process.

Wasn't there an old doc somewhere on creating 4.0 themes? Has 4.1 changed from 4.0?

Simple. OS4.1 can only run on less than 1000 computers in the entire planet, so this means that for most people, the screenshots *are* OS4.1. There's also that none of us really expect it to exist for very long... I would personally be quite surprised if a whole week elapsed between 4.1 hitting the shops and Amiga Inc filing some sort of injunction to block its sale (on top of another mountain of paperwork accusing Hyperion of the usual misdeeds).

That's not sure, if Hyperion is reserving a part of the sales to pay royalties to AInc a was written in the initial contract (in fact it can even be a deal to go out of suit).

Gosh!....the once proud and strong amiga which were sold in hundred of thousands units worldwide, and had some of the most advanced hw and os, are now down to 8-900 machines!!!

I have to say that this is an absolutely incredible downfall, and extremely dissapointing......and i've been loyal for what 14 years!!! - waiting for just a glimpse of hope and resurrection. And the only hope i have today is the os of the once great amiga, which are being worked on for what...1000 machines??? - and i cant even run the damn thing on modern hardware, because theres nothing to buy, and if there was hardware like SAM or something similar i would still feel like being in the past.

We should be up there running super cell machines, and flying like a dragon with our advanced history and background....but no we are tied up in court dramas and no hardware, and an os which are lightyears away from the big ones......oh and big new applications are also a joke, and games looks like something from the 70's.

Gosh im tired of this eternal waiting for 14 years..............14 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - and our userbase is around 900-1000

honestly we are a joke in todays world of billions of computers worldwide

But putting all this venting aside, and being positive again and again........i have to say the only sparkle on my nightsky are Hyperion and other OS4 devs........they are the real heroes......not us

Imagine coding for such a bunce of tired and grunting dissapointed freaks like us......man they should change their avatars to something more "superman" like.

THANKS HYPERION

I think considering the company went bancrupt all those years ago, and how well it's been run since the Commodore days, it's not doing that badly!

I mean, considering..

Wow!

I didn't see this one coming. What a pleasant surprise!

Is MakeCD bundled with OS4.1? It looks that way in the screenshots.
Seems like a good idea.

It's not a rumor actually. I could show the receipt I got at the post office today when I send off the CD to the duplication facility

The wording was based on "
I work for Hyperion but I don't speak for them.

Anyway, good to hear it has gone gold, and worth a news bump
