| As much as I yap about much faster x86 or ARM CPUs for AOS 4.x, I'm thrilled by this news. It's now a priority for me to get a new miggy this year, and the 800Mhz Flex is the leading contender. Only real competition is either a Peg2 or a nice classic machine.
Thanks, ACube! _________________ A4000/040 18MB AmiKit Mac Mini G4 1.5Ghz, OS X 10.4.11 and MorphOS 2.4

This goes to the top of my list of "Things to get once I have a job again"..It will be a while, but I have something to look forward to, and my micro will do just fine until then. |
Exactly my thoughts!

How long will a CR2032 last in a Flex board? |
Probably just as long as the one on a micro, which for me is about 4 and a half year (still on my first battery!)

I agree. On a desktop system one can always use a faster CPU and more memory, and the Flex has both (who here hasn't laughed at "640KB should be enough for anyone"?) It doesn't matter how efficient AmigaOS is, applications are what really benefit from more MHz and MB. |

L2 Cache is an expensive part of a CPU, the logic required to handle a relatively large (256k+) cache at efficient speeds is quite involved, and the 440 is an embedded CPU, so it's not so important there. Its bigger brother, the 460 does have L2 cache though. |
Xscale PXA 312 has 256KB L2 cache. _________________ Ryzen 9 7900X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB Amiga 1200 (Rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32lite/RPi 4B 4GB/Emu68) Amiga 500 (Rev 6A, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 3a/Emu68)
