Dear amigans,
http://web.aanet.com.au/~BlitterWolf/index.html
By going to the link above, you will now see a new and reloaded website.
Naturally, I must say that anyone using Internet explorer, well, they arent thinking clearly.
Site can be viewed from many other browsers successfully. Such as Firefox, Chrome, safari, Iceweasel, and Orign web browser to name a few.
Anyone using IBrowse, sorry, no go. If you are however using OS4.x, then you have no problems, just use OWB, logical. Maybe even netsurf.
cheers. |

Actually, it may have just been Stratagus. A few years back me and a particular friend used to try our luck with compiling whatever we could get our hands on. The StarCraft engine came up a few times, and he had luck porting "it" to OS4. Now whether that "it" was Stratagus, or Stargus Im not too sure. I had a look on os4depot and couldnt find it, so just assumed that my friend didnt upload it, as he often wouldnt if things had glitches. Now that Ive downloaded sources considering to port it to AROS Ive realised Stargus/Stratagus arent entirely the same thing. So really Im not sure exactly what it was that was ported at that time. Was a few years ago now, so the brain is a bit hazy Anyway, point to all this is that maybe youve not been wasteing your time on work that's been done. I really dont know for sure. Will have to ask my friend next time I speak to him, as much as anything cos IM now curious
If Frak is reading this, hope Im not wrong and it was indeed you that did the port of whatever it was that was actually done,... was someone from the old #A_O days at least. |

Stratagus is on OS4Depot. Which is the main RTS game engine. And includes support for Wargus, which extracts Warcraft(2) datafiles so you can play Warcraft. Or close too. Stargus is an addon that extracts Starcraft datafiles from the CD and allows you to play it with Stratagus. Stratagus was ported by Mr. Capehill. (Juha Niemimäki.)
I recommend porting both to AROS. Infact I was going to do the same when I found out that Stargus only works on x86, so would be perfect for AROS x86! But I am not set up to compile for anything other than OS4. Guess a cross compiler on a PC would help.
The main code of Stargus is endian agnositic and in fact takes into account converting litle endian to the host CPU style. But, a major section of code that does the actual extracting is not endian agnostic and assumes that all data it reads in from files will work, those files being in little endian format. Now if it was just a few variables read in then that would be an easy fix. And what I later adopted into the code. But is it more and there are these strange 3rd party routines copied in that do decompression whick break on big endian! End result: Stargus was a lot of work!

I could see if Frak (and not Frank?) encountered the same problem he might have given up. I don't know. I'd like to know what progress was made.
But, I know now everything that Stargus needs fixing with to work on big endian, so I am happy now either way. Last month I doubted it would ever work and this month I've had breakthroughs with the code. As demonstrated with the last beta. If it's out on site. So a real release is really closer than ever. Hopefully only weeks away! Last edited by Hypex on 17-Jun-2009 at 11:00 AM.
