AmigaOS should be all sorts. AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS. Because if you mean AmigaOS 3.x and write AmigaOS and mean AmigaOS 4 it would be very wrong. Why? Because AmigaOS 3.x can't run AmigaOS 4 programs. It needs its own version of OWB for example to work.

So saying that AmigaOS 4 is AmigaOS is correct, but always have AmigaOS 4 in the same line.

MorphOS and AROS is other types of AmigaOS. They all share some code, but aren't really compatible, except AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS which got 68k AmigaOS compatibity.

That's like saying that if Adobe released an updated photoshop that only worked on Windows7 they just had to put in the requirements "for Windows" assuming that everyone has updated to Windows7 and ignoring the tons of users with XP or Vista.

Because TvPaint which is a 68k app is on MorphOS Files site ;p its all mixed ;p insanity

OWB is now my main browser despite current inconveniences. One of those that bugs me is a great delay on some sites in rendering the last few kb of whatever page I'm looking at.

In earlier OWB times this happened with most pages but now there are much fewer. One of the chief offenders is any page from realclimate, for instance:

OWB once started takes about 12 secs to visually complete this page but 67 seconds to finally complete it so one can scroll down say. On reload it takes 4-5 secs to be visually complete but 57 seconds to finally load.

For contrast iBrowse takes 14s to completely load first time then about 8 s on reload or from cache.

So what can be the explanation? Could it be the 3 javascrpts from external sources that load with the page or something else? Can anything be done about it?

Of which most does not work with Win ME/98 or previous anymore.

Update ....

Working great so far. I have no problems on any of the sites I normally visit. Posted fine on the three amiga oriented forum sites I frequent. Also downloaded an mp3 file.

I have similar problems with this website using OWB on both my µA1-C and Pegasos II. As you describe the pages loads almost to completion and then appears to hang/lock OWB for a minute or more?

Maybe its because I am also looking at the page from New Zealand?

IBrowse makes multiple simultaneous connections (the number can be set in prefs) and takes advantage of multitasking. If one requested item is delayed on one connection the other connections continue to D/L data items. You would have to ask Joerg if OWB uses multiple connections and multithreads. If not, one stalled item could delay the whole page D/L.

The requirements come very soon stating that Win XP is required, DirectX v9, some hundreds of megabytes of memory and the rest of that. It's never stated that it simply requires "Windows".

Btw, since there are more AmigaOS 3.x users than AmigaOS4 ones you can see the comparison is not exactly the same: you won't see a single game that requires Windows Vista and does not work on XP because XP is still used a lot.

I mean: the title should be explanatory, is it so hard to add "for AmigaOS 4.x" on OS4 software news? most of users still use AmigaOS 3.x. So remove "for AmigaOS" or add "for AmigaOS 4.x" but fix it.

Yes, but I fail to see the connection with the tittle of the news item. OWB is also available for AmigaOS 3.x and since AmigaOS 4.x is backwards compatible AmigaOS3.x version should run on it. If the AmigaOS3 version had been updated and news item just stated "AmigaOS" it wouldn't be a problem since all the users could run it. In contrast AmigaOS 4.x version won't run on AmigaOS 3.x so news item is not clear.
