AmigaOS 4.1 development has pushed forward in a lot of areas lately, so it is time to share some of those with you, and show you just where the current beta snapshot is.

I have uploaded some screenshots here to have a look at.

@yoodoo
Acording to the Startup manager documention files:-

"When you run the editor for the first time, the list will be empty.
This is because there are no modules specified to be run. Modules are added simply by dropping
program icons onto the list. You can add as many as you want, and the list will be sorted
according to the startup priority which is specified within the icons tooltype."

Maybe I should give it a go myself

I have to say it looks really cool.

Good to see 4.1 development moving on. I just wish there could be some announcement from Hyperion regarding ownership. Not essential I know but I feel it would be nice.

I really like the new icon set, it gives to amiga os a more professional look, and that's what it needs now imho

For the icons, afaik ( maybe i am wrong ) i know that workbench gives the possibility ( but maybe never used ) to automatic scale the icons ?

@Nube

I don't think is possible to scale icon on the actual 4.1

The drop shadows look cool. But for me the icons are too big. Personally, I really don't like the size of them and I don't want them to be that big.

Nice looking shots, and I like the icon size. That alone makes this worth waiting for!

IIRC it's supported by icon.library but not workbench or something like that... hopefully it'll be supported soon...

Thanks for sharing the screenshots. Although the icons are larger size, they are consistant size and theme. IMHO this is a good thing. Right now, I have a mixture of old and new icons of various sizes and shapes. OWB 3.15 has icons similar to those shown in the screenshots.

Sadly, I don't think I will be using the new GUI effects on my MicroA1 system. Unless there have been significant changes, I just won't have enough Video RAM soldered on my motherboard. As it is right now, I run my system with compositing mode disabled.

Hi Rigo -

Thanks for taking the time to give us an early preview.

It would be great if more things like this would be done from time to time.

As a bonus you may end up getting some useful suggestions/feedback before the product goes RTM.

Cheers!

@Stephenson

Personally I find it more practicaly, less mouse moving when the scrollers are together??

Also, I rarely use scroller, I simply use my middle mouse roller / button??

DOnt you have a mouse with such features? It is a common mouse these days.

AND

THe icons are ok, bit large yes.

Personally not that much difference here, apart from the shadow effects one can incorporate, and icons seem updated, windows also slightly different.

Overall a nicer look yes. well done. you get my 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Anyone know when the Final release of OS4.1 will be released for SAM users?

CHeers

It looks like a bad mixture of WinXP (title bars), MacOS (scroll bars) and Workbench. The guy who make the skin need a better taste. I mean square buttons with rounded scroll bars?

@Turrican

That's the authors personal choice, you can pick your own look. Thats why we have "Prefs".

I only came up with a suggestion, and i promise that there will be a new video soon. Sometime in autumn, i may be lucky to own a new Amiga-system, and perhaps i could have this new Intuition to show off. We'll see..
