Wow silicon! We await testing => mass production => public release, with trepidation!!

Even Troika got to the prototype board phase and that was a pile of none functioning rubbish! Lets hope this is as serious as the ACube offerings but with 68k +AGA, souped up and then some!!

Well done.

This is FPGA dudes. The dreams of AGA+ or AAA chip sets can somewhat be realized now.

I urge all to support and even join to just learn or contribute in this FPGA arena.

These are some of the most valuable skill sets in the IT industry and i have no doubt the FPGA market will grow, and employ many more FPGA orientated staff.

Well, logic design skills for FPGAs are not exactly IT skills, they are hardware skills still. And FPGAs are too expensive for mass production, as in 99% of all cases the re-configurability is only useful in the development phase.

No, this is not true.

While there are FPGA families which are too expensive for mass production there
are also complete FPGA lines which are perfect for mass production.

Cheers

@BigGun

I just had a look at the thread Who Owns the Rights to OS3

Can you summarize the current thinking here?

Note:I'm not wanting to start the old debate again. I'm just curious what your approach is going to be on behalf of Natami.

Hey!
This is great news;seeing hardware , at last.
Didn't see a donation spot on the Natami page but maybe I missed something?
A new super-68k Amiga with AGA+ could well find a spot here amongst the classic Amigas ,efikas,Macs, and that common office type....

That depends on the intended market. If you expect to sell millions of units, yea, FPGAs are terribly expensive, and the large NRE cost (Non-recurring engineering) of an ASIC makes sense. If you expect to sell hundreds, perhaps a thousand or two, then the NRE of an ASIC is grossly expensive, and many FPGA products make a lot of sense.

The SuperAGA chipset of the NATAMI brings with some enhancements over AGA.
It would be nice to extent OS3 and KICKSTART 3 to natively support these enhancements.

For example it would be nice to add support for IDE-disk-dma to the Kickstart 3.
Also moving TCP/IP or USB support into the Kickstart would be good -
as then the Board could boot from an USB device or from the network even.

We would like to do this if we could license the OS 3 Kickstart/Operating system.

This makes sense, doesn't it?

Cheers

Who cares about who owns the rights to OS 3. Amiga Inc are crooks and have bleeped themselves.

I say it's all in the public domain now and it's about time too.

A while back there was a group of ppl who did a 3.9 ROM. I seem to recall H&P threatening to sue them if they sold it. Amyone recall the story on this?

The current pricing for Amiga OS 3.x seems reasonable and it available from several vendors;if a Natami port license cost no more ,it would be a good deal.

Does this board actually *works* ?

Port ? You should have the sources and a licence for that: and unless the situation has changed, they don't have these sources, nor the licence...
