Announcement   Announcement : BOUNTY: AMP package for AmigaOS4.1 (Apache, MySQL and PHP).
   posted by Troels on 6-Oct-2009 22:00:06 (8946 reads)
This bounty consists of two phases both assigned to AmiCygnix developer Edgar Schwan.

First bounty covers phase one and will bring an up-to-date Apache, MySQL and PHP to AmigaOS4.1 via AmiCygnix.
The package will contain a minimal AmiCygnix installation, so you won't need to install the large AmiCygnix base package.
A bounty of minimum EUR 500 must be reached for Edgar to port these applications.

Read more...

When phase one is complete, we will open a bounty for phase two. Phase two consists of a fully native port of Apache, MySQL and PHP utilising whatever the current version of AmigaOS4.x has to offer. A bounty of EUR 300 must be reached to get the fully native port.

@SixK & Crumb

AmiCygnix uses the systems C library Newlib and an additional utility library with the missing unix functions (and some special funcs). This is similar to ixemul, but it is less unix compatible. No fork(), pipe(), exec..() etc.
This means more work.

I expect as soon as people get there heads wound the fact that it is only x11 apps that feel a bit slow under AmiCygnix on the sam440ep they will be a lot happier with the stage 1 port

I was afraid to say that, but I think the AmiCygnix version will be the better version . But the native version was requested by the initiator of the bounty.

@Mrodfr

I think this will not help me much. I've made some experiments with the current X server. It seems, that I have to port a newer version. Using native gfx functions is not the final solution .

Raise the bounty to 500 euros, and I'll add the 300 euros myself. At least Edgar won't spend time doing his package.

Project is already started

@elwood

When I create an AmiCygnix package first, it will not delay the native version (much). But the first result will be published much earlier. Is this o.k. for you?

@all

Thank you for your donations! You're great!

Stay tuned for the status reports on amigabounty.net!

Good luck, edgar, with this work.

I think this updated and debugged package for amicygnix and native amiga system will make pleased some users

Maybe that will give the idea to another developper to port some php applications for the amiga (some of them would like to do the work on the amiga but don't have the software (AFAIR on the start of this thread) ????

@Troels

I've seen the bounty amount!
I just set up an account at Moneybookers and transfered the money to them. When it's there, I'll pay my dues!
