Great news! Thank God I don't have to hold on with my toe nails any longer. I hope they can give us a good Christmas too!
I wish I knew more about Fleecy and Bill and what went wrong. Hopefully we can all bring the Amiga community back together much as Hyperion did by releasing OS4 for the Peg. Wishful Hippy thinking I know, but that's me.
In the meantime great work by Hyperion and a great test of faith by us who remain.
Best,
John Paul

Ah, what could have been with Dave Haney at the helm, he had a vision and an understanding of what must be done to succeed. Yep, what we have here is not so much a battle for the ship but a battle for the life boat, and they agreed that one part gets the boat and the other one the oars.

They did not win, they settled with Amiga Inc with a new agreement. Thanks to a Moo linking to a /. article about the settlement, I see that Haynie posted his thoughts: http://news.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1409045&cid=29796239

I disagree. Dave is an engineer like myself and not a manager nor a guy in charge of money. It is really easy for engineers to say things about how it should have been but in the real world, we don't control the money and we don't control the management team.

Amiga Inc. was in charge of things when this all began and they decided to contract out to Hyperion and thus AmigaOS 4.0 was born. The deal obviously went sour and years later a settlement reached. All the stuff in between is irrelevent now.

I think we should use this opportunity to move forward and think of the future again. Not lament on how things could have been if (insert name here) was in charge and management were pushovers and we had infinite funding and nobody sued us and everybody bought the product so we could stay in business, etc.

If only engineers were allowed to rule the world it would be a better place.

Nice to see Dave Haynie around Amiga discussions.

Perhaps he'll one day play with us again, after he retires from full time jobs.

lets have a bounty for Dave to design us a new motherboard

I see that as two entirely different thoughts.
Sure, the engineers don't control the money or management team. No argument.

But how can you say you "disagree" with the quote:

Quote:
Ah, what could have been with Dave Haney at the helm, he had a vision and an understanding of what must be done to succeed.

which focuses on thought process more than "control"

In fact you agree with that in your closing statement:

Quote:
If only engineers were allowed to rule the world it would be a better place.

By leading off with "disagree", it seems you are dismissing your own belief.

Hyperion has announced some updates for AmigaOS 4 for 4.1.1 and even 4.1.2 but I haven't heard of any updates for AmigaOS 4 for the Classic Amigas with PPC cards?
Its still stuck at 4.0 (unless someone knows different), and couple do with the upgrades from the AmigaOne/Sam side of updates...

I've asked some questions about fixes for OS4.0 on the A1s. It was pretty clear from the answers that none would be coming.
I can only speculate that the fixes would only be coming through OS4.1, if at all.
