@Rogue

Easy on, my good man. While i do respect all the hard work the OS4 team are doing, and very well appreciate it, i also realize that a full SMP support might not be entirely for 4.2, but if things go as planned, it might make a first introduction to AmigaOS 4.2...

As i see it, Hyperion Entertainment were the one revealing these plans themselves during the 2 shows. These didn't come from me..I was simply just commenting it..

But i can tell that i am an old Amiga veteran. I HAVE been using the Amiga since late 80-ies and have always watched the development carefully. I am much more interesting into the Amiga development scene than what happens around PC and Windows. These things do not interest me at all...

If i was such a fool, braindead idiot as many of you seem to think of me, then i would have lived in a madhouse. I wouldn't be here. Probably i would have been dead..

I lost yet another great friend of mine 4 days ago, so show some respect. That goes for all of you...

@HKvalhe

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

I think you are just having difficulty with language differences in your posts.

Example:

Quote:
Everything i have said recently, have been correct and true. Most of them.

The above would be better stated "Some of what I have said recently is true."

"Everything"="All" and in the same sentence you then add "Most" which means "some". I hope you can see how people would be confused to read something which really translates out to:

"Everything is true except those things that are not true".

(no offense intended Helgis)

Thank you. I sure it would have been better to say them that way, and not the way i did..

I'm sorry, but now i need to be alone for a while..

And this link is the reason why you thought i was just speculating wildly...

@Helgis
When you've been proven wrong, it's usually best to admit it (and learn from it), rather than continue to deny it. As it is, you only seem to be digging yourself a deeper hole...

Maybe your only mistake was a bad choice of English words, but if so, then why not admit it? It's hardly a crime for someone who's native language isn't English! And everyone makes mistakes (me included), so it's nothing to be embarresed about (*).

(* = well, unless you keep making the *same* mistakes! But hopefuly recognising your mistake will help you avoid doing it again.)

@All

Perhaps it was a bad choice of some words. I don't know, but i do remember that i said in my first post MIGHT, LIKELY. Such things...

But again you all think i am completely stupid and braindead just because i don't have an Amiga RIGHT NOW...

I admit nothing as i was not wrong at all, and it wasn't I whom revealed the plans. The OS4 team honorable did..

I SAID a most-likely complete change to the Workbench environment for 4.2, as stated in that link i was referring to...

And I thought I was the BAD reader here...

@BillE

So Eyetech is back because Hyperion won the rights to AmigaOS, and they saved Eyetech from the wratch of Amiga Inc?

If that is so, then i deeply appologize for my inconvenience...

You all know what? I used to be very happy writing topics and making comments of different things related to Amiga. I even was really eager to comment about the future plans for AmigaOS 4. Instead, i get insulted and critized just because english is not my common language. That some words might be misleading or even wrong, just because i am hard of hearing. Quite insulting, really, and now in addition i have to deal with the loss of another friend, whom died 4 days ago. This is the fifth person in my life i have lost, whom all meant a lot to me. First it was my 3 brothers, then a godfather whom was my teacher, now a good friend. Now i also have to deal with massive critics from you.

Honestly, i have to say i don't know how much more i can handle. You don't know me and i don't know in private. It's as simple as that. Yet you choose to prejudge people when you simply don't know them. At least in the case with me..

Michael Jackson used to say this: "Prejustice is ignorance", and he was right. This is exactly the case...

Sorry for offending you. My post was not based on any prejudice about you but was an answer to one of your posts in this thread.

You really need to chill a bit... I guess we all do. This thread was supposed to be about the good news and not a discussion of which parts of AmigaOS4.1.1+ that has been revealed as facts or not.

Remember that no matter what you read about AmigaOS on the internet (here or OSnews f.ex.) you can't be 100% sure it's true. They could be exaggerating, having misunderstood something or plans could have changed.

The core developers of AmigaOS4 (Rogue and Rigo among others)on the other hand knows the exact status of AmigaOS4 and all future plans, none of us do!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, I hope you are ok? Again sorry if I offended you it was never my intention .

Fascinating news. The link was down when I found this thread, but it's back up again now that I've read the thread through.

Can I look forward to new products now...?

Quote:

Not quite true! Hyperion DID say a long while back that they inteended to intergrate SMP into AmigaOS in the future. That was long the plan, and this might as well happen now that Hyperion own the whole AmigaOS concept.

It's ironic that people like you in the past and even now, claim that i am misleading and making wild speculations. This might prove that i am simply bringing out Hyperion Entertainment own words revealed at these 2 Amiga shows..

Would you dare to say that Hyperion are making wild speculations? I would, and that's not a wise move..

Yes the Frieden brothers have mentioned that SMP is planned for future versions.. Hyperion
however have never officially mentioned this in any specific version.

Now you write "might as well happen now that Hyperion own the whole AmigaOS concept"
but before you wrote it WAS FOR SURE going into OS4.2.

People like me? Well excuse me, I have have always been civil to you.
The comment "talking out of his *ss" means simply that you talk about things you don't
know for sure.
Instead of using IS, WILL BE IN, I KNOW, WE KNOW and such words you could ask "if this
is true", or even write "it would be nice if this would be true".

Haha I think Hyperion want to choose their own PR guy (or girl)..

Now I know this is a language barrier!
First you ask me if I would dare Hyperion, then you say you do yourself, then it's not a wise
move to do so?!?!

Again Hyperion have never OFFICIALLY mentioned ANYTHING. What has been shown on
Amiga shows is "work in progress". All, some or none of the features may be removed
before the final 4.1.1 is released. They may very well be pushed to the next version or
never be released. Before shouting out that a specific feature IS IN the next OS version
wait for an official press release.

Sorry to hear of your friend. My comments have never been meant as personal attacks
on you. Just be a little more humble when you write.

@All

Hello everybody. I can only say i am sorry that we have come to this situation with misunderstanding and suspections. While i was certainly not meant to be attacked, it did feel that way for me, and it's not the first time..

I also know that i can't always know whom is part of OS4 team and who is not, but i am proud of the work and they have done a lot of great work into shaping AmigaOS to what it has become today. That proves strength, spirit and a unique enthusiasm which are all important.

It's true that i love to talk about the Amiga, and sometime it's too easy to make some wild specifications. It's also good to know that Hyperion have taken the lesson of Commodores' failure to their hart, not wanting to fail as they did by carefully reveal
things in a neutral way, until they actually have something to show off..

Anyway, we can all agree that AmigaOS is getting better and better all the time. That's wonderful to see, and i am proud and happy to witness this development from here..

I accept your appologizes, and i hope you will accept mine as well. I can't be sorry enough for how things have come here. I hope you are all doing fine..

To the OS4 team i would like to say i am sorry i didn't know some of you i were typing to actually were working with AmigaOS 4, but even that the team is the one with the right answers, it doesn't necessarily mean they are always right or better than anyone. They can be wrong too, and other people might know something they don't.

It's important to understand that Amiga, at least for me, is much more than just a hobby. It's a culture, it has history, it has a soul and a hart, too. An important meaning. I show enthusiasm, spirit and joy because i believe in the Amiga.
I believe in its' abilities and its' potensial. I remember when Amiga came out
for the first time late 80-ies. It became the first multimedia system for the home market. It introduced video, graphic, audio and user-friendly capabilities that were 10 years ahead of any PC and Mac at that time! 10 years!

What is actually an Amiga today? Amiga is no longer tied to custom chips and complicated hardwares that needed modifications. An Amiga today can be ANY hardware. Any hardware that runs different Amiga operating systems like AmigaOS,
MorphOS and AROS, not just Linux or a special Windows designed to run on other platforms than just x86. AmigaOS is what makes the Amiga as what is truly is. A unique system that has a lot of potensiality, with unique capabilities. The Amiga can in fact do it again - to become NUMBER ONE of choice again...

Only time will tell when that will happen..

Arg ok ok we get the point there is a language barrier and in my mind HKvalhe is doing very well to be using English in a computer related forum & get it even remotely right ....

BUT......

SERIOUSLY ....we get it please dont feel you must apologize anymore !!

I want SMP too I see the OS4 road map yes SMP is in it but if the "Rouge" one
who is one of the Frieden Bros. says NO your wrong please understand he is
the men who writes out the road maps then makes it happen..... so believe his statments!!

also sorry to hear of your friend, my condolences to you.

good to see other long time Amiga users!!

BTW when are we going to see the game...... Super Frieden Bro's II on Os4? :P

@Panthro

I respect your answer and it's well pointed. Speaking of Rogue. Yes, i am aware that he has the most say when it comes to the future of AmigaOS4..

But the OS4 team DID in fact say they inteend to intergrate SMP support in future AmigaOS. Perhaps not entirely for 4.2, but at least make an introduce into 4.2, for then being fully supported in later versions after 4.2. I am sure that such a plan involves a lot of updates to ultimately make a fully SMP-support. Same might goes for the new graphic subsystem and the plan for full JAVA-support..

I think what is important now is to focus on the first big update to AmigaOS 4.1. The version 4.1.1 and probably also the mentioned 4.1.2. It remains to be seen how all this will turn out in the end..

AmigaOS4 is getting better and more modern. That's important to know. I thank OS4 team for making it all possible..

@HKvalhe

This is much humbler written..
Still no promises though, only that they hope to introduce from 4.2 with further development
on this is in following versions..
Also Java & new graphics subsystem may not be introduced in the same version (4.2)..
But then again who knows if work has been done for a while already?

Thank you my friend. I did it in the end, a humble way. I know no promises. We don't want another Commodore failure, right? Yes, we are aware of that. A good lesson, actually. Fingers crossed.

WooooHoooo!

I used to come here 3-4 times per day! Now it is more like 4-5 times a year!

I got this nudge to visit here a few days ago but kept putting it off until today! After all this time ... I feel so relieved to see this damn court thing is settled at last.

I read this entire post and this one too. http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5151&start=0

Hope springs eternal!

I feel like a little kid and I may actual be alive to see the Amiga blossom again!
