| Reflashed successfully, this made my SAM's boot time about 3-4 seconds shorter. By also reducing the OS boot countdown in UBoot, I got to 33 seconds from the original 39 seconds. So I've saved 6 seconds of boot time. Nice. _________________ The Rear Window blog

| Hi, I very happy to see new uBoot for SAM !!!
Question:
I´m a AmigaOne XE user, when is a new uBoot coming for us? There are so many issues to get rid off...
Maybe Amiga Dev-Team members could give answer.
Greetings to the Amiga Family

| Very nice to see a firmware update! (I guess that means an OS4 update might not be too far away...)
It only reduced my boot times by 1.5 seconds, but that is after I had previously reduced the boot times by several seconds by tweaking the boot delays. If you have not tweaked the boot delays, then I would expect to see at least 4-5 seconds improvement.
I now have an OS4 boot time of 35 seconds from pressing the power switch, using a 2.5" (laptop) HD. Last edited by ChrisH on 28-Nov-2009 at 10:36 AM. Last edited by ChrisH on 28-Nov-2009 at 10:34 AM.

| @TheDaddy You can (apparently) have some screens on one gfx-card, and other screens on the other gfx-card. Thus allowing two monitors to be used simultaneously. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

| Fantastic!
What about cards which already allow two display per card?
Four monitors?!
Would 3D be accelerated even more with two 3D cards?

I remember reading that this is not supported by the current drivers, and possibly not AmigaOS4 either.

| Noob question:I downloaded the iso and burned it with AmiDVD. When i re-boot with the iso CD in the drive nothing happens and the system boots regularly into Workbench. The DVD is not set as the "primary boot device" it would seem, How do I change that? Last edited by DAX on 28-Nov-2009 at 02:22 PM.

Press ENTER when asked in the boot screen - if it dosn't react to ENTER - switch your keyboard to a different port on the back. _________________ Maintainer of www.bigbookofamigahardware.com

| Reboot, wait for it to detect the HDD and DVD, then press enter until you get a prompt, then type menu, now you can change what will be booted first. _________________ SAM440EP MINI-ITX 667MHz - 512MB SAM440EP FLEXATX 800MHz - 512MB - R9250 256MB

| @DAX If in doubt, follow the AmigaOS4 installation guide for how to boot from a CD. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

| Thanks all for the help, still doesn't work though: I manged to enter the menu, change the boot device from Sata HD to Sata CD-Rom drive, press Esc, select "boot this configuration" and when it exit it gives me the usual black screen with cursor (promt) expecting commands (no attempts to boot at all) and of course if I press reset, it starts from HD (going straight to Workbench). The manual says that at this point it should boot from the CD (which of course is in the drive). _________________ SamFlex Complete 800Mhz System + AmigaOS 4.1 Update 4 Amiga 2000 DKB 2MB ChipRam GVP G-Force040 Picasso 2 OS3.9 BB2 AmigaCD 32

| Solved! here is what was wrong in case another noob needs it: I followed Yaroze procedure (stopped the auto-boot and entered the menu by typing "menu" at the prompt. As Yaroze writes above you probably must initiate the booting sequence manually (with the suggested "boota" command) when you do it this way. Anyway while waiting for a reply I tryed again this time pressing enter when the system asks for it (although I was told so many times I thought everybody were talking about the initial "press key to stop autobooting" ) and entered the menu directly without having to write anything. At that point everything was smooth sailing
By the way, it shaved around 6 seconds
Thanks again to everyone for the Help! Last edited by DAX on 28-Nov-2009 at 03:37 PM.

A) I think one can use either one or both B) IIRC, the support is experimental, RadeonHD drivers are in alpha state, available from the developer. (Hans) C) no idea... perhaps the limitation still exist. D) you should be able to. IIRC, it was previously possible only with some other than radeon card. SAM440ep refused to boot if there was another radoen chip in the system beside the onboard M9. E) No idea if dapters work. (ask from the driver developer)
Radeon HD drivers: http://hdrlab.org.nz/radeonhd-driver/ DualGraphicsCard setup was possible since the beginning, look @ Acube web site: "AmigaOS 4.1 Dual Graphic Cards Setup support files" I think there was problems only/mainly with more than one radeon in the system.
