Can you move the mousepointer? I can't (USB), and the dock CPUTemp doesn't show any activity. The window are completely grey, also the the part at the bottom of the window with status dissapears and you only get a slider.

However it continues to update the clock, the CPUTemp are working etc. I'm just wondering if this is "normal"?

This seems to happen with lots of sites, here is another one:

I get the same thing - grey screen, frozen mouse pointer, clock still works - on this site:

www.mycokerewards.com

I even tried re-installing it but got the same result. The first install I used the Cairo version and installed it over my existing Netsurf. The second install I deleted the NetSurf drawer and installed the other version.

OK, I've managed to reproduce it now ("opening extra windows" is useful information which should have been reported at the start of this discussion).

The fix/workaround is to add/change the following line in Resources/Options:

no_iframes:1

That will resolve the problem with all the sites reported in this thread. I suspect sites which use frames probably aren't working either, if you need to use those it is probably a good idea to revert back to 2.5 for now.

Frames are supposed to be completely overhauled for 3.0 but I'll see if I can get this fixed for an interim development snapshot at some point before then.

@Chris_Y

Thanks I will try. Also about your comment:

1. It opens the window fast so at first I didn't realize that it had opened a new window.

2. I explained what it looked like so you could've figured this out yourself too.

@Chris_Y

Thanks for all your efforts so far with NetSurf.

no_iframes:1 ... resolves the problems with the sites hotrod reported.

The website for my user group www.amicue.org uses frames. NetSurf 2.6 opens a new window ontop of the NetSurf window and my system freezes.

@Chris_Y
Is it worth sending you crash logs? (Not related to previous posts.)

@ChrisH

If they're reproduceable and not frames-related, yes.

Frames I've fixed but I'm waiting until something slightly interesting gets merged across before I do a dev build release.

Chris

No, not reproducable. Just random crashes for no obvious reason (e.g. on start-up). Thought crashlog might help in identifying the source....

You're welcome to send them along, could well be something obvious.

I just wanted to add that this browser are really nice and I really appreciate your work! What did suprice me was that scrolling are really fast at http://www.aftonbladet.se/ since it isn't with OWB. It feels faster over all and I really like the GUI .

I'm really looking forward to new releases

@hotrod

Thanks. Parts of the redraw code have been optimised between 2.5 and 2.6, although NetSurf is generally faster than OWB anyway, as it is designed for old creaky hardware rather than fast shiny new stuff

More optimisations are on the cards, so it should get even faster!

Oh, and thanks for the bug report, it's a shame I didn't pick up the problem before the 2.6 release.

@Chris_Y

I like "even faster" :P . I'd like to add that I didn't find the loading time of http://www.aftonbladet.se/ too bad, I thought it would be worse actually :) .
