As an OS4 onlooker and hopefully future supporter, I heartily welcome this blog!

BUT,

I do note a degree of inconsistency in Hyperions communication.
It seems we always see an increase in community info from them just as they have a new product to sell....
Am I the only one who feels just a little bit used?

@dnni
Of course they trying to make some money as well. Because without money, there will be no motivation (even, if not so big piece of money). And of course they start to communicate better, when time to next release is coming, that pretty understanable.

We've put Timberwolf on hold for some time now since the latest beta versions of Firefox 4 (on Windows) had rendering problems with some of the boxes and containers. Since we didn't want to hunt phantoms when converting to the new code base, the effort was put on hold until such time as a working beta release came out.

Recently, with the new beta 7 arriving, the problem has been fixed and thus work has resumed.

Awesome, glad to hear it. Do you forsee a FF4 beta release for os4 in 2011?

Darren Everland aka HammerD is a beta tester for morphos and os4. So quite elite :) He has elite hardware too when it comes to classic amiga. I think he has a Cyberstorm PPC running @ 300mhz+ (modded obviously)

He probably has more high end test configs than most amiga people in the world as well.

@ nikosidis

We are seeing a high level of assistance between developers in all Amiga camps at the moment. I hope that it continues.

That's the whole point - they are a company that needs to sell things to make money. Just like Apple and MS and all the other 'proper' companies. We need a constant stream of information from Hyperion showing us the new features - things in development - to keep customers interested otherwise you will get nothing.

Used? A company promotes it's products when they near release. This is normal practice. In what way does Hyperion giving you more info make you feel used? Does Apple make you feel used when it hypes its new iPhone just before release?

@realize,

Close but not quite :) I'm not a MorphOS tester - although I do have a Peg-2 and MacMini.

Also there are some who have faster Cyberstorm PPC's than me :) Mine is 366Mhz, but people have 400Mz ones...

Anyway, my 366Mhz one is not primarily used for beta testing. I use two other non-overclocked ones for the testing...

I liked the "Club Amiga Monthly" thing they used to have where they would explain in detail various technical aspects of AmigaOS...any chance of a return of that?

@ Minuous

No reason why a blog like this couldn't cover some more technical aspects like CAM did (they did?), guess it all depends on wether anyone with the ability also has the time needed.

Click the "developer topics" button and you will see some more technical articles already.
