As i understand (but maybe i am wrong), drivers from Hanz should be just part of AOS, without any "sam460 only", because it was tested on other sams, on a1 , and even some tryes was done for peg2. I believe it will be part of OS at all.

It would seem that the Radeon HD drivers will be included in a later update of OS4.1.x for machines .

The probable reason why Acube have secured it for the version of OS 4.1 update 2 for the Sam460ex would be that if it was not included then you would have either had to use the onboard graphics or use the PCI slot with an older Radeon card. This would have limited your SATA and display options and thus the appeal of the Sam460ex until the Radeon HD Drivers were released.

So the next question: When can we expect these HD cards to do what they are supposed to do: To actually play HD videos thoruogh mplayer or DvPlayer?

Even a 550MHz Sam440 could play full-HD movies if they got access to such a card!

Please do not use these adaptors. I have one beta tester with an adaptor such as this, and he gets ridiculously low data transfer speeds. Slow data transfer to/from the card means slow graphics.

For motherboards without PCIe, stick to the pre-built PCI cards such as the Radeon HD 4350 PCI. Higher end cards will be a bit of a waste because of the slow bus, anyway.

I'll be writing a "card recommendations" page on my website soonish.

I now have to take back what I said about the PCI-to-PCIe bridge cards. The slowness was due to poor settings for the Sam440-flex that it was plugged into, and not the bridge card. The settings for the Sam have improved in the meantime. Despite this, I still think that the bridge cards are going to be a waste. That remains to be seen though.

I have updated the
recommendations page accordingly.
