Hmm...first impression i had was rather positive, an improvement on the previous screens.

But after seeing it some more, i'm still not impressed.

Anyone had a close look at the amigapdf header (the line where the page numbers and search function is)? What a mess, allthough that may have to do with the program in itself.

Still don't like the backgroud pattern, the yellow font and especially the top window border (which is too high) and the blue active window color.

Why do some fonts in the dock look bolder/ugly (like Sgrab and Prefs in the 5th screen)?

When is OS4 going to be released?

Think it it is not the latest version of AmiPDF. Even as the new set of icons is not implemented...
But I just finished them tonight

Think it is a feature of AmiDock to make some "important" programs names bold, but I'm not quite shure...

@Orgin:

Ah, yes, now that you mention it, that is of course true. I have indeed been running it promoted to an RTG screen for several years (not continously). I was confusing it with Pirates!, which is the one I have been running on AGA through my TV card.

You do like nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking don't you?

The issues you have are personal preferences, all of which are readily changable by the user. BG patterns, font colours etc were all configurable in OS3.x, and are likewsie in 4.x. There isn't anything wrong with the blue active window colour, infact with the new gradients applied it looks a lot nicer than it ever did, again the colour and gradients are both user defineable.

You cannot moan at the way it looks because that particular user chose to use his machine that way - I am sure there are people who would not like your particular colour/bg pattern choices. That doesn't make the OS itself bad.

Just out of interest, what machine was it running on, and when yo usay it was smooth, how smooth compared to say a 3.9 installation on the same machine?

Ok, I will stop it

It was an A4k but I do not know which accelerator card was inside. Most of the demonstration (all the new tools and utilities) was in "68k-mode".

It is afaik hard to say, how fast it was, but Jürgen showed us the Mandelbrot demo from Hans-Jörg which works very smoth and impressing in native mode.

I particularly like the Colonization one, shame it won't work on the A1 version. Still, I'm not going to stop hoping for an AGA emulator to emerge at some point.

It should work. Colonization has an option "Workbench" that makes it playable on the workbench. You can also promote the screen to RTG, so it should really function properly on the AmigaOne.

@Rogue:

My mistake, I was thinking about "Pirates!". I guess Colonization is a prime example of a well-behaved piece of classic software, and a nice game as well . Too bad you can't resize the main window beyond a certain point, though.

BTW, nice avatar you've got there...

I have to congratulate Hyperion team, Massimo, Martin, Matthew and everyone involved for their efforts.

It's good to see that the gui issues argued here and on a.org were positively taken in consideration.

I just learned from Robert Kihl "AmigaOS4 beta tester" that OS4 can't run over WinUAE.
So sad I can't get to try it since I left my amiga back home.

I hope I'll be able to get an amigaone or a cyberstormppc sometimes soon!

Let's keep the faith
