Nothing to be confused about here - it seems that CUSA's license wasn't exactly exclusive.

The only innovation that I can find is their ability to remotely disable customer's products when they can't keep up with their payments. That's the kind of "innovation" that only business people selling stuff would appreciate. It adds zero value to the product itself. In fact, it would decrease the product's value for me, as I detest the idea that there's a remote disable switch inside with someone else's finger on the trigger button. Mind you, I wouldn't go for the "rent-to-own" thing, anyway.

I assumed that the 'dealing with an executor of an estate' meant that this would have something to do with the late Pentti Kouri, who bankrolled Amiga Inc in past times.

But regardless of that, the article I linked to quotes Bill, and the Amiga Inc press release regarding CUSA mentions no exclusivity for them outside of the all-in-one keyboards 'niche'.

It could be either real or not, but I will say that a cursory google suggests Todd Kleperis is who and what he claims to be.

I agree with you completely, its not the innovation I would want in anything I own. I was just saying that it looks like Mr Kleperis is using the Amiga's history of innovation to place his products in a narrative of new ideas.

As far as it goes, the remote killswitch does have some legitimate applications for the products and markets Kleperis seems to be targetting, too. Expensive laptop is stolen? Brick it remotely. Also, if some chancer does the rent-to-buy deal and then disappears, well, brick their product too.

Its more for the 'emerging markets', I think. Where they have a desire for these high-tech gadgets but not necessarily the cash in hand to just buy them outright. No different from the hire-purchase televisions etc we used to have in the developed world.

Just how many nutters are left in the Amiga world? Each one ego centric loonies that believe that they can somehow 'revive the brand' simply by creating lots of Amiga stickers and putting them on existing products THAT HAVE NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THE AMIGA.

Looking at the site it appears that it is linked to AInc.

That - I think - explains everything. Just how many people are they still peddling this stuff to?

Note that if you actually try and buy any of their PCs you can't - you can only 'request a quote'. Almost as if they are trying to gauge interest as if the stickers haven't even been printed yet...

I wonder how CUSA feel about someone else muscling in on their 'put an Amiga sticker on a PC' turf?

As Amiga Inc. grants licenses to a wide variety of companies, which put the Amiga logo on a wide variety of devices, the Amiga name and logo become more and more meaningless. Although I like the name "Amiga," and wish Hyperion truly owned the exclusive right to the name and logos, perhaps it is time to rename our systems to HyperOS, Hyper X1000, etc. just to avoid the confusion that Amiga Inc. is stirring up.

AmigaInc just got the idea of branding everything Amiga.

Expect Amiga soaps, Amiga Toasters, Amiga wallets soon.

For now they are doing IT related stuff, but who knows if they become desparate.

Hyperion owns AmigaOS and AmigaOne and this are true Amiga brands of today.

Ignore everything else, as now, as in the future.

No, it was just the All In One computers, but they seem to broke even that
with A1000-4000 line which is not AIO.

Nevermind, their twisted supporters claimed they owned rights to AW.net, Amiga.org as so on without any papers.

It seems Amiga Inc will be selling names to everyone and anyone but AmigaOS related (such as SAM`s).

Its not as bad as all that. If we're going to have one gang of slightly shady businessmen selling imports from China with Amiga stickers, we might as well have two or three. Or ten.

This isn't necessarily a disadvantage for us AmigaOS users. We can just tell any who stumble upon our community that while there are many different options for PCs with Amiga stickers, they can't offer the full experience.
