Software News   Software News : AmigaAMP v3.1 released
posted by Moxee on 13-Mar-2011 20:35:09 (7763 reads)
AmigaAMP v3.1 bug fix released by Thomas Wenzel.

AmigaAMP is a Multi format audio player with GUI (OS4 native).

More information and download here: http://www.amigaamp.de/download.html

History
-------
3.1 - Fixed AREXX interface for OPEN and ADD
- Fixed opening files by clicking on their dedault icon
- Improved playlist navigation via keyboard
- Fixed mouse button handling routine

3.0 - Initial AmigaOS4 release

Introduction
------------
You want an audio player that really makes use of your high spec Amiga?
Here it is!

AmigaAMP is a GUI based audio player using the amp decoding engine for
MPEG audio playback, libsndfile for AIFF, WAV and 8SVX and libflac for
FLAC. Playback is done through the AHI audio system.

This software is provided 'as is' free of charge. No ads, no toolbars,
no subscriptions required! If you like it - use it. If you don't like it -
use something else.

Requirements
--------------------------------------------
AmigaOS 4.0 or higher
PowerPC processor
AHI audio system

Documentation
-------------
This version DOES NOT fully replace AmigaAMP 2. It's a successor with
some new features added and some old legacy code removed. It only
supports AHI for playback. All decoders are built in, so there's no
"External Engine" any more.

Sorry, no further documentation at the moment. Just play around with it
a little bit -- I'm sure you'll figure out what it does.

Currently this version comes witht the old (68k) preferences program
originally created for AmigaAMP 2. Some of the settings, especially the
ones for MPEGA are obolete by now. A new prefs program is in the works.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Cool!

It became pretty quiet after the first and second batch of bug reports. Guess he was busy fixing them

Thanks for the update/native port.

Its always nice to get a PPC native port of one of your most used applications even if the 68k version works well

Thanks! I really like this program, allways has and probably allways will. It makes me happy that it's still supported and that new versions are released. It works really well and I'm looking forward to what the future will bring .

Tested new version : all works fine. For now maybe even will replace tunenet (because tunenet sometimes freeze when do iconify/back-to-gui). Only a bit annoy that mooving of the main window not move play list , and play-list jumps to new position only after realizing of main window. But in others its good :)

All bugs I reported seems to be fixed! Great!
It starts much faster than the 68k version as well, especially with my 5k song default playlist.

But you can do cool effects. While moving the main window make circles and curves. The playlist window will follow all movements exactly.

:) Will be nice to have on/off that. Btw, as far as i remember, 7-8 years ago on win95, winamp have same problems (or it was just not problems, but feature)

yeah! I at least twice wasted 10 mins making all crazy movements with pause in between, slowing down and speding up movements.. and then it played it back in 20 secs at the most!! hahaha!

I'd also like to confirm that the new, ReAction-based prefs editor is very close to completion, and is soon going beta.

Phew, so many forums with discussions about AmigaAMP. I can't read them all.

But thanks very much for your feedback! Glad that you like it.

Does anyone know if there's a proper way in OS4 to make the 'secondary' windows (eq and playlist) follow the movement of the main window directly?

I tried calling ChangeWindowBox() each time I recieve a CHANGEWINDOW message but all these calls seem to be deferred until the mouse button is released. The result is the funny 'path following' you see.

About TuneNet plugins. I had a discussion with Paul Heams to actually implement that but we both didn't find the time to actually nail it down and do it.

So my first approach will be just statically linking the same libraries that the TuneNet plugins are using, at least the most important ones. The advantage would be that you have all in one executable and don't need to worry about getting all the right plugins.

Just like VLC or mplayer which also have all the codecs integrated.

p.s. did I really type "obolete" in the readme file? oops.
