Was just testing the new USB 2 speed, and got a disappointing 1MB/sec. Then I just realized my A1-XE only has USB1.1

Just ordered a ST Lab PCI I/O USB U-143 from www.ggsdata.se. It has a NEC chip. Let's hope it works.

I have the same card that i bought for many years ago waiting for the usb2 drivers :) It almost got mushrooms on it.... Joke aside. Here is a fast test i did to check the difference in speed.

I copied a 700mb file from my A1G4XE (partition) to my HTC Desire S mobilephone (masstorage).
I even copied another 700mb file with my Asus laptop (i5) running windows7 to see the results.

usb1.1: 14:26
usb2.0: 2.48
Laptop: 2.10

So the laptop is fastest but then its a modern one with i5 cpu, fast memory etc. But you can see the usb2 on amigaone isnt that far away and its so much faster then the usb1.1 on amigaone. So this is totally great. I hope that the file/directory corruption in crossdos is fixed.

So only missing for me is mui-owb or/and firefox and ill be sitting more infront of my miggy almost like before. Im too much into my laptop running under my tv and xtreamer. But x1000 will hopefully make it my main computer again :)

EDIT:
I would like to see a more deeply info about the changes then its now. Like when morphos releases their updates.

Can we have more info about it?

Try running games such as UFOAI that used to progressively get graphics corruption.

Great! thank you for your hard work. Not really tested it but noticed that "mixer" has been added to "commodities" drawer... THAANNNNNNNNKKKKSSSSSSSS!

By the way : comment posted with OWB 3.32... hoping that MUI OWB and/or TimberWolf will appear soon.

As for the LogViewer not a clue.

Not a clue? You've got to be kidding.

The clue is in the name: LogViewer views ... you guessed it ... logs! More specifically (and very obvious if you start it), you can currently view three different kinds of logs: Notifications (i.e. messages which have been shown with Ringhio), USB (it displays the usb.log from T: but with some formatting and highlighting to make it easier to read), and Blanker (some diagnostic messages which the Screenblanker system can log, mostly as a developers tool, but they might come in handy in case you have a problem with a specific screenblanker module which you want to report to the author).

Best regards,

Niels

Congratulations to Hyperion and OS4 team!

Its always a feat in amigaland to have an update to the os. :)

That being said I have to say it seems pretty dissapointing that after 16months there are this many bugs and this little features?? I mean I thought there were beta testers?
Seems like suppoting "7 different platforms" is a mistake as most of the coding efforts are for porting new drivers and new kernels...weird.

Having said that I'm just happy for the release as it needed to get out. The MUI fixes are very important for the owb port since RA owb suxx. And usb2 sorely needed. Also ppl talk of speed increase which is always cool.

Looks like i'll be getting it for my peg2 when I get the cash :) ($150 us plus shipping yipes!)

Now, lets get Timberwolf going and save the platform. Also some good games, ports or no need to happen.

OS4.1 Update 3 was released after months of extensive beta testing on all supported platforms but there will always be some bugs that can only be reproduced in some special cases or with certain hardware devices, you can't expect a beta testing team to have every possible combination of every existing hardware in the world, especially in such a small community.

Most issues people will have are likely to be due to certain software they've been using which has done some havoc to the system to which Update 3 was applied (example). Such things will happen no matter what and that is why people should use the Support Forum through which Hyperion developers and beta testers can help people solve any issues they experience.

So far, I have only discovered one program that croaks immediately on launch, however it is very old ... AMosaic1.2 croaks with a DSI error. No big deal, I was surprised when this program worked on OS4.1 Update 2. The MUI based programs which I use regularly work fine.

However, none of my USB sticks show an icon on the Workbench screen.

I get the requester but no icon.

The PrefsObjectEditor isn't new it was present Update 2.

Its purpose is to create or otherwise edit XML preferences files, for example try opening the AmiDock.xml file where it resides.

Does that mean I can add my subdocks directly from update 2 to the update 3 Amidock file to save me some work?

Just installed this Update 3 on my Sam440ep-flex... The procedure went without any problems

Initial impressions:

* Yay, me like the new boot pic very very much
* Oki... the system bootup seems little slower now :-S Well, expected with more stuff to load so not a big deal
* Took one of my USB2 stick and... yes it seems to work great!!
* Started OWB, went to AW.net... browsing feels faster, and wow, the scrolling feels much much faster compared to before
* And the overall system... feels more snappier and responsive too

Haven't yet tested more than that...

*me-happy*

@All

After reboot scroll wheel problem went away, but now every time I reboot I get USB errors stating can't do something or other but USB seems to be working fine. Also when I launch new full version of DVPlayer I get massive corruption (random colours all over screen) but dont know what's causing it, Stephen author of DVPlayer tells me it's working fine on his machine with OS 4.1.3!

Has 3D drivers for SAM460 and HD4260 been included in this update, not had time to play and away from home til Friday?

Great to see this update.

I am still eagerly awaiting for new games on Amiga OS4.1.

Will do some company or personal a good move?

Good luck to Hyperion and best for the Amiga future!!!

@m0lebrain

UAE emulates 68k cpu.
OS4 is PPC.

So it won't run with UAE.

Here Update3 works fine :)

the only weird thing was that message when the wb was launched:

6 *-* KEYBOARD ADD NAME NewKey1 KEY '"Del"' CMD "'MENU INVOK...
+++ Command returned 10

Any idea where I can delete it?
