Sorry, I haven't dedicated time to see what caused this to happen. All I can suggest at this point is that you stick to generic Alphanumeric characters in your password.

NOTE:
v1.9 is there now so wait until they replace it with v2.0.

Updates seem to be coming thick and fast, would it be possible to have it update via AmiUpdate?

It maybe something I look into in the future, but I am not sure if it will work for Hollywood applications - only going by the Application Support documentation on the AmiUpdate website. This solution I have put in place serves its purpose as it will offer an available update whenever you start the application, but via AmiUpdate would be handy, but not absolutely essential.

"Updates coming thick and fast": The next update we'll say goodbye to the text box requesters that pop up.

I'll release source code for the text boxes in my rl_funcs.lha distro on OS4Depot when its ready.

The release will provide amongst other things, full Cut, Copy and Paste support and Password field support. There will also be support for Numeric 'text' fields, min / max values with dedicated spin box and mouse wheel support. The only thing I have left to do is character insertion (rather than append to end) and selection of characters via the mouse; the latter may end up being a little tricky.
