Announcement   Announcement : DiscreetFX Seeking to Add Resources for AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS Development
   posted by DiscreetFX on 18-Mar-2012 1:29:28 (10701 reads)
AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS community we have listened to your feedback and are now seeking additional resources for DiscreetFX Labs to develop Aladdin 4D 6.0 for AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS. You stated it was taking too long and we should not work on the OS X Lion version first so we are talking your feedback to heart. We are looking for one Amiga and MorphOS programmer proficient in C. No naughty Windows, Mac or Linux skills required, your time will be spent 100% working on coding what you love, AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS!

A past resume on AmiNet, OS4Depot or MorphZone is a plus, preferably in the 3D animation/rendering software department. What do you get in return? Part time steady income from your Amiga development, don't quit your day job. This will be a long term commitment so we are looking for someone that loves to code 3D animation applications that wants to take Aladdin 4D to the next level. We don't need you just for version 6.0 but version 7,8,9 and beyond. Since you make royalties plus regular pay the more you do the more you make. We want someone excited to bite their programming teeth into a large exciting Amiga project. In the future you may have to work with the other developer working on the OS X Lion version of Aladdin 4D 6.0 but this will not be necessary in the beginning. AROS will not be left out in the cold, we will also need assistance in getting the AROS version coded once the AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS versions are complete.

Contact us via the link below please with your CV/Resume and reasons why you are right for job. You will also be required to submit your code on a daily or at least weekly bases to a CVS and Blog about your progress to our customers. The Wizard of Oz behind the curtain development cycle of Aladdin 4D 6.0 has not pleased us either and we want future development to be in the public eye so customers see rapid progress.

Best regards

Also, just so it's crystal clear no staff at Amiga.org changed thread views. Sure the number is very high, but it's not that high because of anything I did. Check with Karlos if you don't believe me. All activity on Amiga.org is logged. I would love to know how the view count got so high myself. Instead of pointing the blame at me do some of that Franko investigation and find out the real reason.

You said it yourself "I would love to know how the view count got so high myself", The answer is simple as I now know for myself running a forum website and being it's administrator...

The administrator can change anything they want without it being "logged", moderators don't have full access to the system so they can't see everything and changes that have been made on the fly...

I don't blame you for the "view count" change I blame Tedd Gallion for this (unless like some claim he really is you)...

Simple fact at just after 3:00 am GMT the other night with 196 people online the view count for that thread mysteriously jumped up by 5000 odd views, then 10,000 odd views and continued to do so for quite some time...

Now I aint no mathematician but with196 people online at that time and even if they were all viewing that thread doesn't add up to 5000 or 10,000 views in a matter of seconds...

Between DiscreetFX and Amiga.org it looks like there is no control anywhere over any of their daily running, think you'd better start investigating yourself into this and sort out some very obvious problems they seem to have...

@all

Deron did send several updated binary versions for OS X and each version did have more and more working features.

Interesting theory except Tedd doesn't understand computers enough to do something like that. You witnessed his lack of knowledge first hand on his Facebook the other night. He also has nothing invested in Aladdin 4D and has never had any interest in investing in it.

@ DiscreetFX

Yup... that sure was one big boo boo...

But he didn't have to delete his entire account because of it...

Tedd could also be getting help though from one of the other "Partners" at DiscreetFX...

@All complainers

Do you really think hes going to make any actual profit from making Aladdin6 for Amiga? Im pretty sure if he would program it himself he could maybe get close to minimum salary, but hiring someone else to do it. No way hes going to make profit from it. Hes making it just because hes a fan.

And hes actually willing to pay someone to program something for Amiga? Who cares if he delivers anything as long as he keeps paying that guy. At least some Amiga programmer is going to be making some money with Amiga for a change.

And have you not noticed that Discreet FX have actually been both making donations to Amiga projects as well as having their raffles? I think DiscreetFX is maybe not making huge money, but propably some nice money enough to pay his bills, live his life, donate for amiga stuff and even pay for someone to make Aladdin6 without much hope to actually get on plus side.

Yeah, he keeps optimistically announcing things, he might not handle hes raffles in time, but he is doing much more than most others are not.

I for one am happy that DiscreetFX is doing what they doing, although maybe not with most professional touch.

But then again, I too would rather concentrate most of my effort on real businesses and let more of a hobby things get the attention only when i have time for them.

@thread

we've asked for a long while for 'evidence' of development, and we've gotten it. in fact we even got a video. admittedly the amiga version is apparently a way off, but we already knew that. give the guy a break. he's putting his money on the line here, and even asking in good faith for interested developers to join the project.

@DiscreetFX

we're glad you're still around and still funding amiga development after all this time and pain. it is appreciated, even if the rough and tumble of the forums might make it seem otherwise.

oh, and even if it's just a native version of the current aladdin 4D, you have at least one customer here in connecticut when the OS4 version ships.

Erm... even though it may still be uploading it seems you've made an error with the link you posted...

It only show the message "The URL contained a malformed video ID."...

Simplest way to post the link when it's uploaded is to copy the actual URL from your browser when viewing the video and paste it in your post here...

@trolls

You guys are so lame and useless you could die tomorrow and nobody would miss you. You're not doing anything whatsoever for the Amiga and yet you dare coming to this forum to criticize the efforts of those who try.

Please find a tall cliff and do the right thing...

Thank you

Just searched through this thread and can't see a member called "Trolls" !!!

Are you sure you posted in the right thread !!!

Odd thing is you complain about this poor guy called "Trolls" daring to criticise something (gawd know what) and yet you criticise him for daring to speak his honest opinion !!!

Methinks you've already fallen off that cliff and banged your noggin...

@yaysayers

It's not wrong to demand a little bit professionalism from companies that
want you to support them. The stunt DFX pulled was completely unnecessary
and could easily have been avoided. Why go for bad publicity when you can
go the opposite way ?

PS. Those that don't agree with me don't have to find a cliff to jump from. I can
accept different opinions.

Thank you

That is an interesting statement to make since, AFAIK, he is the owner or significant partner in DiscreetFX. I take it Ted was not the former executive with Netscape that was behind the funding for the Mozilla port?

It is true that Tedd was part of DiscreetFX Partners and for a time CEO of DiscreetFX. He has no current role at DiscreetFX today. He does own Amiga.org which is a separate issue.

IMNSHO, your doing a disservice to DiscreetFX by posting DiscreetFX threads/news to AO at this point in time. All you are doing is furthering in people's minds the connection between Ted and his antics with DiscreetFX by posting such DiscreetFX related threads and news on AO where he is free to comment on them.

@Franko

You're taking all this in a too personal way, IMHO.

Like it or not, DiscreetFX doesn't really need to release anything Amiga related to earn money. If they want to sell, they have to look at mainstream platforms first (who said "and maybe ONLY"?), such as MacOS X, Windows, Linux and Android (which is the 'real newcomer' which is changing market rules, IMHO, with iOS as well). Neither AmigaOS nor MorphOS or AROS have the necessary numbers (in terms of user base) to allow any user of them rise up the voice and loud shout. The day DiscreetFX will ever release something for them, we'll have to be grateful only, whatever will be the time needed, whatever will be the final result. Pissing them off with lots of criticism won't be helpful to Amiga cause, nor it will speed up development, but maybe it will just help DiscreetFX to change its mind.

Some members of this community have long lost the sense of reality, sorry.
