Announcement   Announcement : DiscreetFX Seeking to Add Resources for AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS Development
   posted by DiscreetFX on 18-Mar-2012 1:29:28 (10680 reads)
AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS community we have listened to your feedback and are now seeking additional resources for DiscreetFX Labs to develop Aladdin 4D 6.0 for AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS. You stated it was taking too long and we should not work on the OS X Lion version first so we are talking your feedback to heart. We are looking for one Amiga and MorphOS programmer proficient in C. No naughty Windows, Mac or Linux skills required, your time will be spent 100% working on coding what you love, AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS!

A past resume on AmiNet, OS4Depot or MorphZone is a plus, preferably in the 3D animation/rendering software department. What do you get in return? Part time steady income from your Amiga development, don't quit your day job. This will be a long term commitment so we are looking for someone that loves to code 3D animation applications that wants to take Aladdin 4D to the next level. We don't need you just for version 6.0 but version 7,8,9 and beyond. Since you make royalties plus regular pay the more you do the more you make. We want someone excited to bite their programming teeth into a large exciting Amiga project. In the future you may have to work with the other developer working on the OS X Lion version of Aladdin 4D 6.0 but this will not be necessary in the beginning. AROS will not be left out in the cold, we will also need assistance in getting the AROS version coded once the AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS versions are complete.

Contact us via the link below please with your CV/Resume and reasons why you are right for job. You will also be required to submit your code on a daily or at least weekly bases to a CVS and Blog about your progress to our customers. The Wizard of Oz behind the curtain development cycle of Aladdin 4D 6.0 has not pleased us either and we want future development to be in the public eye so customers see rapid progress.

Contact

Best regards

errr all this Apple product talk is making my stomach turn

@ Kix300r

Nope, I have no interest in rendering progs (never did like them)...

And all I use the Mac for is browsing the net, so that's two big noooo's...

My only interest in this is to see proof of the product that I've read about for two years on Amiga.org...

Macs & Rendering progs are not my cup of tea...

Odd... I get the same feeling when I read about MorphOS, PC's, Tablets, Mobile Phones, Android, Linux stuff (best to avoid I've found if something makes you feel like that)...

Heck... I'd have been as well just saying "I feel like that when I read about any NON AMIGA stuff"...

@ DiscreetFX

Ok... Just watched the video...

As I'm not a Mac fan or a fan of Rendering progs I can't say much about either of them...

Only thing I can comment on is the video itself...

I'm wondering why it was shot using a camera and not captured directly from the Mac itself !!!

It's very easy to capture direct footage on a Mac (even I know that) but while it's clear and reasonably well done, it doesn't actually show much...

Of the 5 mins 13 seconds of video the creator of the video says at 4: mins 38 seconds "now we are at the heart of today's presentation" (the Aladdin 4d 6.0 bit) followed by a still picture of "Hottie" and a still wireframe picture of the shuttle for the next 35 seconds... then the video ends !!!

Not sure what the video is meant to "present" but to me it doesn't seem to present anything at all...

PS: I could upload it to YouTube for you if you want but I'd hate to think of the comments it may get...

The part of the video that's not done is captured on the Mac like the first preview video. This video is shot with a camera so you get to see a little bit of DiscreetFX. Video is not done yet, more to come.

Hmmm.... wish you'd said that in the first place and just stuck up a screen shot of "Hottie" and the wireframe space shuttle, (would have saved you all that time and bother trying to upload the thing)...

Although I did like the Aladdin's Lamp on the desk (is it for sale)...

Anywhoo, think I'll head over to the SKY news website for now and wind up the night shift presenters, nothing much happens there during the night so they've got plenty of time to answer my emails and get into some right good online barnies...

I'm talking about the announcement at A.org. It's a monument on how to NOT handle PR.

Sorry, I don't read Amiga.org

@Franko
I wasn't stereotyping anyone, but rather mentioning a perceived similarity to a pre-existing stereotype. The "constructive criticism" was referring to my suggestion on how DiscreetFX could avoid the criticism I gave.

BTW, do you have a comprehension problem, or are you just being difficult on-purpose? (I'm afraid I'm not interested in playing word games with you, anymore than I would be interested in chasing my own tail - had I got one, woof.)

@dfx: that version you run on morphos, is that your native compilation or just the genuine 5.x 68k application under mos emu, because it definitely looks like that. no versions number to be seen too..

Can you be the first one to spot the color digital video effect in this video and tell us what famous black & white DVE it's a remake of? Be the first one and win a lifetime of upgrades to Aladdin 4D.

Attention desktop icon artists/wizards we need new launch icons for Aladdin 4D for Amiga OS 4.1, MorphOS & AROS. Make them a 24 bit Golden Lamp please. This is not for free, we will pay you.

No comprehension problems here mate but obviously you're have problems comprehending your very own words...

and I quote you "tt's a bit too loud & stereotypically American for my tastes", your words not mine...

Now let's break that down so that I can help you understand the very words you wrote yourself, "It's a bit too loud" that part is clearly describing that is how you feel about the item in question and not just how you are "mentioning a perceived similarity", the rest of the sentence "& stereotypically American" that is again not you "mentioning a perceived similarity", that is a statement your are making my friend, a statement...

Hopefully you can now understand your very own words you posted and dunno why you think I was attempting to play "word games" with you as I'm not in the habit of playing word games (much prefer RPGs meself) not sure but I don't think I have ever thought whether you had a a tail or not but thanks for clearing that up (I think)...

PS: You don't need to thank me for helping you to understand your own words here, I like to help those with difficulties just so that they can better themselves and not make the same mistakes twice...

PPS: There is no charge for this service, first lesson is always free...

@ Vox

Why did he get banned !!!

Can't be because of the post he made in this thread as there was nothing offensive in it !!!

It was actually quite amusing to be honest...

Ahh that explains it and makes perfect sense then...

I did that to Kesa yesterday on my own site (think he's in a huff now), only banned him for a day for "lurking with intent", now he's gone off in a sulk...

Wouldnt know if havent seen at his profile he is restricted for XX days without abuse point. Its not healthy to discuss moderation in public, but again, if it was that message probably it was "go jump off the cliff" thing that was way too harsh

@Franko

I agree his statement was mostly amusing, but from moderating point of view line has to be drawn somewhere, and I would say its not a bad idea to draw it where someone tells you to commit suicide, even when its clearly in humorous sense.

@Discreet FX

I first thought I wouldnt check that video, but your challenge made me watch it after all. I dont havea actual knowledge of that Video Effect, so I am only making quesses here:

Attack of the 50ft woman?
Some Marilyn Monroe Movie?
Some Shirley Temple Movie?
