@DiscreetFX

Expanding and detailing out the FAQ may be helpful.

A couple of suggestions:

Drop the initial fee to developers, forever. The Amiga market is simply too small to really expect developers to pay any fee, seeing as they may be lucky to sell a couple copies of their software to begin with.

I'd drop the royalty rate to 20%. 10-20% typically was considered the fair rate, back in physical media days. For 30%, I'd expect the publisher to sell tons of copies, or have a website that generated insane amounts of traffic. If you were Apple, or Big Fish, or a major game portal, 30% would be fair. But you aren't...

I also suggest including UAE as one of the available Amiga platforms (just include it in the 68K section). I like the idea of an app store for older Amiga games/apps, all in .adf form, or in bundles of several at a time, i.e. how GOG does it. There are so many more old Amiga games available than new sofware. And there are more people running UAE on Win/Mac/Linux/Mobile than people who use real Amigas nowadays. There are issues with the fact that many old games have been released already for free, and good stuff, like cinemaware titles, have been gobbled up by other companies already... but it could still work.

@DiscreetFX

Despite my negativity, I hope you succeed. But the Amiga's past has made me extremely cynical, and for that I apologize.

@phoenixkonsole

I apologize for my lack of knowledge. My only experience with www.ares-shop.de had been buying that G.E.M.Z which didnt come instantly, for the understandable reason you just gave, so i thought everything else in your shop is delivered similar way.

Also, I never before knew your site was done with same idea as metropolis. Which is mainly because of the naming and looks of your site. For G.E.M.Z wasnt the first time i visited your site (everytime quick only i think), but I had always thought it to be some Ares/Aros (or whatever the actual name) shop. That you were making Ares computers and selling them and everything in your shop was related to it.

I did wonder why G.E.M.Z came there, but then i thought that maybe you were just involved in making that game and hence it was natural you would naturally sell it through your site.

But anyway. I root for any page, inlcudling ares-shop.de, that has the same idea as Metropolis. A site thats aim is to become a place where you can instantly buy and download any Amiga products.

Im sorry again from not having looked your page long enough to realise what it actually was. Hope others notice that too, and other developers come to both metropolis and ares-shop.de

And what i meant by that security is that its not hard to figure out how to make an html page where you have a link by which being clicked, the download starts.

However, this kind of pages url can be given to anyone (including the ones who didnt buy) and anyone can download. So its not secure, but it is easily doable by anyone.

But if you want personalised download link that comes to each customer right after payment. Then thats much trickier. I for exaple personally dont know how to make such.

So what i was referring was the difficulty and time it makes to make such.

Quick instant solution is to have url with download link that peopel are sent from paypal after payment is processed.

If you want some security, but dont have skills to make instant personal download links. Then the next choice is the manual processing. Each time you see a payment from someone, you send them a link, maybe even personalised one.

And third, the best option, is to have instant download with personalised links to each customer. However. I personally dont know how to make it, therefore so far i have sticked to the option 1, the most unsecure. But if i ever make something i actually take effort on, then i will look at option 3 or 2. And that might mean for example using ares-shop.de or metropolis (if that product is for Amiga), and that way i wont need to figure out how to make instant personalised download links.

@Nameless

We support Amiga Forever with Project Metropolis and are actively trying to contact some old game/software publishers. This is a challenge because of the amount of time that has pasted since their games/apps originally came out.
