I am no master of capitalism, but to I is understandable that whenever a demand for low supply component exists, its price goes high.

Surely, PA Semi has very advanced memory and I/O parts and is a low power design, but sadly this has both limited X1000 availability and increased price.

However, A-EON seems to be learning lesson from this episode.

I do recall a lot of people not believing its possible to get PA Semi at all
(If it is PA Semi I`ll eat my socks!)

Trevor went to PA-Semi first and it was actually PA that recomended he use Varisys to design the X1000.

He had a supply agreement with PA prior to the takeover by Apple. I think Apple wanted him to buy PA6T in quantity and said it's OK I have a supply agreement. Of course reneged on the supply agreement.

This is what I learned from Trevor while speaking to him at Silicon Dreams.

Well, acquisition occurred on On 23 April 2008, which means its hardly possible he had agreement before as A-EON didn`t exist, but I might be wrong.

@Vox:

Or development was already proceeding well before A-Eon was formed.

Quote: Quote: As far as we are aware the project has not been officially cancelled. However, we are now leaning in another direction altogether. What does this bit of non-information mean anyway? It means the netbook project is solely in the hands of Hyperion. It also means A-Eon doesn't want to do the netbook project and is instead looking at starting something else. I just used more words.

It means its cancelled and like many of us said there was NEVER running OS4... so looks like a lot of vindication for people that were attacked for expressing there skepticism. Quite sad really.

Trevor is a shining light in the Amiga community that removes the darkness. I wish him well in all his Amiga pursuits. He delivered a beautiful high end Amiga just as he promised.

@realize:

If anything, you were criticised for making unwarranted assumptions. You are still claiming that "it does not run OS4", for which you have no basis whatever.

You've been told the truth - that it turned out to be too expensive for its performance. Isn't that enough?

The netbook does run AmigaOS and it has done so for a long time. The port was just never completed (e.g. the touch pad driver) because Hyperion put the project on hold. I have not been informed that the netbook project has been cancelled.

Perhaps you have better sources for up to date and factual information than I have?

It could be so nice small machine for AmigaOS.

Sure, final price/performance ratio was prohibiting, but I still hope there will be portable AmigaOne someday.

Even Intel pans on a $200 notebook/touchscreen/ultrabook combo, but its hard to do :

http://www.eetimes.com/author.asp?section_id=40&doc_id=1287328

Now if we could get AmigaOS on Chromebook for £299 inc vat +OS or a 7 inch Tablet like kindle we may have a chance.

But we must have AmigaOS developer tools that add to existing x86 workflow in creating tablet software.
