   posted by amigakit on 1-Dec-2014 20:15:50 (5357 reads)
The new official website of PPaint for the Amiga is now online: www.ppaint.com

This website provides a digital download payment page for the latest Classic AmigaOS 3 version of PPaint 7.3 for users who do not have access to AMIStore App Store.

It also hosts the latest information on developments, screen shots about Personal Paint. In the near future, update information and support pages will be added.

Note that existing AMIStore users who have purchased PPaint 7.3 OS4 version should use the app store to download the OS3 version for a cross platform special price (excludes gift purchases for others).

Just bought it to run under MorphOS until a real native version arrives =)
Seems to work pretty nicely.

Some needed stuff to make it run was to first copy bullet.library from 3.x to LIBS:
and second step was to rename/remove personal_agnus_blit.library unless you fancy lockups =)

Dunno if this is just the 68k version, but the PPaint drawer was missing a icon, not a show stopper though =)

Here is the standard clown loaded and rescaled :

@missing icon:

I just checked the archives I sent to Matthew & Trevor and there is an icon present.

Can you list it incase the format was wrong or something?

Change:

BLITLIBS = "personal_agnus_blit.library", "personal_cpu_blit.library", 1

to

BLITLIBS = "personal_agnus_blit.library", "personal_cpu_blit.library", 0

in PPaint_Prefs/Startup_1.set

to disable amiga blitter, although it's supposed to autodetct morphos and do that anyway.

[edit]
Got the configs lines the wrog way round.

It should work on no AGA machines, but does need OS 3,0 or up.

I noticed that you'll get PPaint 7.2 with AF 2014.

http://www.amigaforever.com/classic/ppaint/

AF2014 can be bought for 9.95€ today btw.

@fryguy

For the last decade PPaint has remained at the same version number (7.1c) until this year. This current new round of development on PPaint has led to the 7.2 release initially and the new 7.3 release. More updates are in development and in the new year we are pushing towards 7.5 then onwards.

Customers who have bought 7.3 from A-EON will receive free incremental updates on the development road to 7.5.

As you can imagine, development is an expensive business especially in the small Amiga market.

Rates fluctuating. I see, two € cheaper.

Would be more than glad to buy a good program with a future in a long while!

Tried and tried. Now I'll try Again. Putting this Windows away. Start the same in the XE.

@ - just in case I could copy&paste the darn thing to OWB;)

Develin: Is that the 68k version you are running under MOS?

Any crashes?

Can you run OS4 version in MOS with emulation perhaps?

@broadblues

Well, thers is no icon for the PPaint drawer, there is however icons for everything else.
http://www.onyxsoft.se/stefan/temp/ppaint.txt

When it comes to blitter the settings said :
BLITLIBS = "personal_agnus_blit.library", "personal_cpu_blit.library", 1
but it tried to take agnus for some reason and I got a lockup.
But renaming that lib it went on working.

I just noticed that the swedish translation is rather poorly done, but that is another topic =)

@cv643d

Yes, it's 68k version I bought which I run on MorphOS.

Well, I dunno if OS4Emu let me do that, probably not and since I need to buy a OS4-native version just to test it I think I'll pass for now =)

I've had a crash once when I tried to free some memory withing PPaint, dunno if I can recreate it, if so I'll add a logfile to Andy.

In a German forum, somebody mentioned an icon having "the wrong type" - no idea which icon he's referring to though.

@cgutjahr

The icon is of the "glowicon" type and set as a "tool".
There is however a tooltype saying "CLI" but I dunno what that means really =)

@broadblues

I do get some hits from the system while starting PPaint, it doesn't hang or so but it looks messy some how :

http://www.onyxsoft.se/stefan/temp/ppaint.log

Ignore the first 9 rows, that's just debug outputs from my own tools

Wrong size is passed to FreeMem() or FreePooled(). Relatively harmless.

Ok, well I havn't got it to lock the system yet (unless counting the agnus misstake) so I belive you =)

@andybroad

Any ideas why the selected tool fails complaining about not enough memory ?
I still have 800MB free ?
