A unified OS would have been great, but i guess that ship sailed long ago. Hence make the best of the split and that is choice, But why is OS4 continuing to mimick MorphOS instead of going its own way? Choice needs differences.
Keep the difference! With more difference the rivality between MorphOS and OS4 will become lesser.

To sum it up.

Best solution: unification (would have been great, but it's very, very unlikely)
2nd best solution: provide a real choice.

Personally I like it. Takes out some of the hunting required especially after a prefs program is added by third party software.

@marko

I could but I've not looked at it for years, I use Dopus5 in text mode and haven't seen an icon for years except when editing tooltype or the few I have in my desktop drawer.

I use my own launcher program that scans prefs looking for exe files and creates a vertical list of buttons on request that I use for starting prefs programs. I would upload a grab but the site I used has been 'upgraded beyond usability', the extra prefs I have are:

ClassActionPrefs
CMEditor
ftpdprefs
MidiPorts
OpenURL
Palette
Qt
StormMesa
THE
TinyMeterPrefs
WacomPrefs
WacomPrefs.debug
WarpDT
Wazp3D-Prefs
XpkMaster

some I've not used in years though.

Funny - OS4 mimicking MorphOS even more.
If you want to have it the MorphOS-style better use the original. Saves a lot of treouble and work.

Interesting... It appears there's an OS4 theme available for MorphOS - does that mean MorphOS is now mimicking OS4? "If you want to have it the OS4-style better use the original. Saves a lot of treouble and work."

Incidentally, I have that theme on my MorphOS machine but I don't use it...

This is just a 3rd party utility giving the OS4 users a choice - either the standard Amiga OS way since OS 2.x, or an OS X-alike way. It is not OS4 mimicking anything. Please grow up.

@Severin

Hm, come to think of it, I adapted Alex Carmora's Arexx script for meddling with WB's toolsmenu by adding lines for a couple of the more frequently used prefs programs. I thought it less clumsy and less fiddly then opening and closing windows in order to locate that particular program.

@Severin

Oh that what pretty many :o Thanks for sharing that info

That "support for 3rd-party prefs" I'm about to next on the TODO-list is for just a couple of programs...

But for that many 3rd-party prefs you have you need like an whole new tab and such. I can't promise that I can implement that any time soon, but I will add "3rd-party prefs in own tab" to the TODO list so maybe when the other more urgent issues gets fixed and I find the time (I have many other projects too) we'll see.
