I know it sounds odd, but I can't trust BBRV. I don't know why, it is nothing more then a gut instinct, an instinct I have learned to trust.

I am not saying BBRV is a bad person or anything, but I do take alot of what (s)he posts with a pinch of salt, if I read them at all. As I would with Eyetech, AmigaINC and Hyperion, unless you can show me the product, or a large number of 3rd parties, don't tell me!

@cockney_dave

UAE isn't licensed. Amiga forever is. But neither does that make UAE licenced nor does it make Amiga forever unlicensed. Basically, if you haven't bought Amiga forever then you can't use AOS on UAE according to the EULA.

Point is that if any legal action on the EULA was made then the issue with non licensed UAE installations and the legal weight of EULAs in different countries is going to make that case very weak.

That's why the EULA bit should not have been a part of the statement.

Though the wording could imply that he simply wanted to say that using AOS in breach of the EULA was generally unwanted and not that any legal action would be taken about it.

The good part is that Ainc denied that any agreement/settlement/ruling has been made in favor of Genesi as of yet in contrast to what Genesi has stated. He should have stopped at that IMHO.

/Björn

I hadn't seen the statements by BBRV - cheers for posting them.

I can't believe they posted something like that - surely that would really hurt their legal action? The courts do not look favourably if one side is proclaiming a victory when no ruling has been made.

I'm quite interested to know why BB would want DE running on the Peg anyhow. From the users point of view there's been precious little development happening for months. Where is the new DE software?

Of course perhaps BB knows something we don't. Is the DE about to make a splash in some big way?

Or is this whole affair just BB stirring up more trouble?

UAE is not a Amiga machine in the physical sense, but it is a licensed "machine", Cloanto have a license to sell OS3.1 and ROMs.

UAE is not licensed. That's why it comes without ROMs or OS.
Cloanto's AmigaForever is licensed - hence the inclusion of ROMs and OS (and quite a few rather nice add-ons and utilities). It also saves a lot of hassle, as the only other legal way to use UAE is the copy over the ROM images - which don't fit on an ordinary Amiga diskette - to the emulation machine, install AOS as best you can... and then never use the real Amiga while you're using UAE.

For all the Cloanto package costs plus you get SAV, updates, a config manager. Lovely stuff.

@amigacooke

I have been thinking the same thing. Why the desparation to get AmigaDE on the Peg? Is it for the products? A sorry bid to get the name Amiga in some wat (and they call us name followers - oh the irony!)? Or just a junk lawsuit meant to be a marketing exercise (wouldn´t surprise me)?

>1) Are you saying there was no meeting between Genesi and Amiga Inc legal representation this week??
>
Who was saying that?, but as you know meetings doesnt automaticly go in favour of the instigator you know.

>2) Are you saying that the case is still ongoing between Genesi & Amiga Inc??
>
as far as I and quite a few backtracking genesi representatives are concerned that is the case yes.

>3) Do you actually believe the EULA comments made despite the easily verifiable fact that at very least the Draco and Amiga Forever had a license for the OS???
>
Here is what I suggest to you, go read the actual EULA before you make comments about it.
But I know you are just trying to be "smart", so good luck with that thing :)

Why, no java usualy equals no embedded products.
As for new developments things are progressing although this darn summer heatwave prolly slowed things down a bit :)

Its not DE that is inportant in this if you catch my drift :)

To quote BB himself and then you can make your own opinion:
"AmigaDE is a bit like pouring alot of water in a good glass of wine. It just did not make good business sense"

Sorry, stupid mix up of words there, "UAE" should have been "Amiga Forever" (edited the post), got the two mixed up.

You're correct UAE isn't a licensed product but then it isn't an Amiga (and pretty useless too) without ROMs or the OS.

You can use AOS on UAE without Amiga Forever, you just have to own a legitimate copy of the OS and ROMs, Amiga Forever is just a way of owning those bits, it's much the same story as Mac emulation on the Amiga.

Do agree with about the EULA part of Bill's statement though, would have been better left out/made clearer as it could be misleading/lead people to jump to wrong conclusions as it is.

Okay then... that leaves TAO's Intent or OS4... Which is it?

But you are not the first to indicate that things are looking up. I've heard it personally from someone I trust.
