Nintendo has unveiled a new Game Boy only slightly bigger than a pack of cigarettes. Game Boy Advance SP is being described as "the luxury model" of the handheld machine. It is scheduled to launch across Europe on March 28, priced around £90.

Nintendo spokesman Ken Toyoda said "the new Game Boy looks more like a handheld computer than previous incarnations of the console."

It boasts a battery life of 10 hours and can be recharged like a mobile phone. Although the display size remains the same as the Game Boy Advance, the latest version has extra lighting to make playing in dark places easier on the eyes.

Some Game Boy Advance users had complained about short battery life and dim lighting.
