New Python v3.0 will not be backward-compatible

Guido van Rossum announced back in 2000 that he was working on a new version of Python that would break backward compatibility. Well, the time has arrived with the first release candidate of Python v3.0. (Read More)

According to von Rossum, "The motivation for 3.0 was to have one specific event where we did as much of the backward incompatibility all at once," ... The idea is to "give the language a better foundation for going forward." Documents for version 3.0
