The most popular AROS pre-configured desktop environment, formerly known as "VmwAROS Live!", has changed its name to "Icaros Desktop", in order to avoid wrong interpretations and confusion with VMware-oriented products. Icaros Desktop is a complete, independent AROS distribution which runs on supported PC hardware, being it physical or virtualized. The AROS Research Operating System is a open source lightweight, efficient and flexible desktop operating system, aiming at being compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 at the API level, while improving on it in many areas.

More about this at the official website: www.icarosdesktop.org

Former address, www.vmwaros.org, will continue working until expiration. Icaros Desktop will be as much compatible as it can with former distribution. At the moment, there is still no plan for a VE (virtual environment for VMware) version.
