@saimo

Heh! That's why I felt the need to clarify. My mistake in original description.
Please understand that (to me), double clicking on a file/or selecting it in
the GUI should both function the same, since both "select a file".
Therefore I consider this difference in behavior merely an inconsistency.
(I don't "auto" anything either...I was just testing this for the behavioral
difference I discovered)

I fully understand your point and I do agree.
However, I think that the auto-unpacking behaviour from GUI is more "unexpected" (because - I think - it's more common to think first about *what* to extract and then *where*). The solution, IMHO, would be having two separate tooltypes.

@saimo

I agree with your logic. (2 tooltypes)
The problem stems from a new user who is used to clicking on a file and having
for example a picture file chosen in ASL to immediately show in a program like
"picshow". The user may make the attachment:Click on file in ASL=action taken
Considering we were discussing a tooltype "AUTO" that was going to make this
unarc action immediate, it could be confusing when it IS immediate in one case,
but not the other.(in the GUI, the "start" button would still need to be clicked)

Hey All,

Try this, open a few drawers on WB and then hold down alt and move the scroll
wheel up, it cycles back through the drawers (directory structure). Then alt
and scroll down cycles the other way.

Cheers,
Bean.

workbench.library 51.24 (6.11.2005)
- The builtin default catalog now contains a question mark after the toggle
select menu item "Backdrop" which is recommended in the Amiga User
Interface Style Guide book.

Done. But I've only tested it on AmigaOS4, no working AmigaOS 3.x system here currently.

@Beeblebrox

The AmigaGuide WB Help document has been there for a while - possibly as long as the original pre-release (and the HELP key code has been there since WB3.5)

@salass00

Quote:
The "Cleanup by columns" has been in WB since WB3.0 at least (never used WB2.x so can't tell whether it was there as well), only it was called just "Cleanup" back then (WB3.0/3.1) as none of the other options were available at the time.

Clean Up was one of WB2.0's new features. The other four options were added in WB3.5.

Has it been mentioned yet that you can now select (and drag select) files in more than one open drawer at the same time?

That's another WB2.0 feature

@wegster

I saw, it isn't in your list, so...

PlayCD takes FULL advantage of CDDA info text taken from freedb.org, is it
another upd4 advantage?

Oh yes it still interfere very much with the sound!!! It is faster though so I need to scroll slightly faster than before to make the sound stop. But if I scroll continously (not using the scrollwheel) the sound stops just as before until I stop scrolling.

try using a PS2 mouse instead of USB. Does it still have this behavior?

Weird! I don't have that problem here. I think it should have something to do with the AmiPDF settings or graphics card driver settings (monitor driver).

What?
I am using a PS/2 mouse. the problem isn't the scroll wheel. That works fine. The problem shows (or audiates) when I grab the page and drag it with the mouse or use the slider to scroll contiuously.

Yes, I would think so too. Seem the draw method cuts multitasking when drawing the page (just like MultiView has always done since OS3.0 and also cutting music) but it draws too slow and therefore keeps the multitasking off too much time preventing the player to refill the next buffer and play, and I get a gap until I stop scrolling.

The sound doesn't stop immediately I touch the scroll, only if I scroll continuously until the current AHI buffer has run out.

I have a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB and a Soundblaster Audigy 1.

That's not the only time that it happens. It happens when you resize windows as well IIRC... or move them or something like that. Too tired to check wich is correct

Ok, sorry. I've seen 'more similar issues' when using USB mouse that aren't there if only using PS/2, so thought it might be the case for you. (Audio distortion primarily when also using heavy graphics, guessing USB traffic is causing problems somehow..)

@wegster

We discussed related subject in a couple of threads in recent weeks.
PS2 mouse uses interrupts, USB does not.
Problem seems to be related to too many interrupts.

Threads: here and here.
