| @wegster Somewhat odd behavior though. Clean up by Type in a wide Window. Then, clean up by columns, and it leaves the window 'bare' on the right hand side.
Looking at it, I know what it's doing, it's cleaning up by creating N columns while trying to fill the height of the given current window...something to just get used to/be aware of.

I guess you could talk to Hyperion about the necessary changes for the SLB. | Do you really think someone else would write a loader for it? Like for SFS I would have to do that myself as well, but additionally the author of the SLB will have to port my SFS2 loader functions to U-Boot, it has to be tested, etc.
Quote:
Would it also require any changes on OS3 when I wanted to use SFS2 with Amithlon? | A port of SFS2 to AmigaOS 3.x/m68k Additionally a new dos.library with 64 bit support or it would be even more useless than a AmigaOS4 version. |

I think one could ask about that way: "now that you implemented new dos structures I'd like to make use of them in an advanced reimplementation of my file system. Could you do a part of it/help me with that/tell me what I need to know to make the SLB understand my changes?". Often asking is a good method to find out things. Maybe they like the idea and want to help.

I guess an additional OS3 port wasn't the most complicated part to you so I hope you would provide one. A new dos.library was clear. It was more meant for any other, less obvious changes like changes on the kickstart ROM which could not be done without hurting patches. |

| Here's another new thing in AOS4;
I am browsing, downloading files via FTP, Listening to tunes via TuneNet, and Unarchiving files at the same time, not only is the DL speeds faster, my AmigaOne DOES _NOT_ CRASH!!!.... =)

| Has it been mentioned yet that you can now select (and drag select) files in more than one open drawer at the same time?
I have also noticed that doing a warm reboot gives an immediate (no longer delayed) response. |

You're right! I'm going by the over all feeling here... It's all feeling so much better and I didn't realize that it's one of the reasons...
I did have OS 4 pre #3 and earlier on a 60GB HD and a 160GB HD (newer and faster) for Linux but I realised that AOS is my main OS now so I switched harddrives... this made OS 4 even faster and I can use it for whatever I want now... allmost... I still miss a good webbrowser, good office-suite and you know the rest ...
But I *do* miss a DC++ client still... that and a good webbrowser and a working java plugin would probably do it for me... no need for anything else... |

And the early boot up screen,(hold down both mouse buttons at start of boot) is different, gives more info about the system, this is good!
Not so good it still has to be a PS/2 as USB don't work. Also has to be PS/2 to get rid of the flashing Recoverable alert that sometimes happens.
Will this be fixed next version? Or else any future Boards will have to have a PS/2 mouse attachment. _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011 |

* BIOS updater - Anyoneknow if this will work on previous releases or ud4 onwards only?

It needs filler.image, which is included only on update #4. Apart from that, it works for sure under update #3 and possibly before. |

You would need to write more code for the SLB, just "asking" is not enough. Besides, it's not Hyperion who did the SLB (hint, hint!).

Hmm... I'm under the impression that nothing really changed, except that now the screen immediately goes black (though without losing the monitor sync, which happens a few instants later when the reboot process really kicks in, more or less like it used to happen before). No doubt that this is an improvement, as the user is given immediately an unmistakable feedback.
As for novelties, one thing that I haven't found mentioned yet (and maybe only because I haven't been following [closely] all the U4-related threads) is that the TAB button now cycles through text gadgets and buttons - at least, I've noticed that it is possible to cycle through the "save", "use" and "cancel" buttons of some prefs programs... come to think of it, I'm not even sure this wasn't already there.
