And who is going to buy these masses of microA1 without a killer application or game?
I don't think ex-amigans will come back in thousands.

And what if some guy at MAI forgets to pull the plugs and lets that machines roll for 1 or 2 weeks?

@LX-8

Yep! Was it Dixons that threatened to stop selling GameCubes because they were No 3 in the console wars? If Dixons can't spare the shelf space for a Nintendo product I doubt we will see any AmigaOne's.

You are more likely to see a STB or PDA with DE running on it.

I would be reasonably happy if we saw half page adverts in magazines like MicroMart.

@Coder

Keep your bucket on!!!
I said a hug not a kiss. And anyway its Mikey_C that'll give you a hug.....and maybe a kiss too.
....
Afterall, if he has to fly all the way to Thailand to find a Pegasos owner he might as well get his money's worth.

I saw Claudia Christian at the airport a couple if years ago. She's cute, but she's getting on in years now. Hey, I even saw that seven of nine chick at a Barnes and Noble near work on my lunch break. She's hot too, a little googley with the eyes but the Bod rocks even in her tracksuit. And these are the ONLY two celebs I've seen since I've been in LA. What gives?? Maybe, I've got scifi radar or something and miss everyone else. Oh wait!!! I forgot...I'm a geek.

bigben:

umm well maybe so (os4 out for xmas) but i doubt they will rush it just to get it out by then..

as for microA1 , 10.000 units would be great but that means they need to pull of that deal alan was talking about and i havent heard much about it ever since and to be honest, thats the amiga way.

When everything has gone quiet thats when the bad things happen imho, it could be all from negotiating with mai to selling the units at lets say "dixons".

i really want an a1micro but it has to be an MK III minimum and that hasnt been produced yet, MK 1 and MK2 has problems and well thats normal for earl models/proto's.

cheers

Would be very nice to see Power Computing stocking the A1 and OS4 by christmas and one sitting under my desk of course . But, OS4 needs to be finished and shipped first + the A1 needs to become available again. Christmas is still 4 months away...

@L8-X

Dixons is working with PCWorld (do they own it?)... So according to the name, I don't think they will ever sell a potential direct competitor of PCs... Time will tell !

Alyssa Milano is not bad... But did you saw Amanda (or the
full album)?

@Jerryuk007

PCWorld is part of Dixons Stores Group, along with Currys and The Link. Dixons, Currys and PCWorld have always all carried PCs. Dixons and Currys used to stock Amigas alongside PCs when C= was alive. Both Dixons and PCWorld stock Apple computers so I don't think there is any conflict at all.

I don't think High-street Amigas are going to come about any time soon (at least in AmigaOne form)

@Mikey_C

In shops doesn't necessarily mean available in all PC hardware shops, it just means it's gotta be possible to buy one somewhere

For me it would be enough if GGS-Data and Datakompaniet had a few, but I've stopped waiting for it. It would be awesome to build a system like the one Alan has been displaying for use as a DIY set-top box, but the question is of course "when?". And we all know the answer to that one, I guess...

I think I'm gonna have to set up my AmigaOne again later tonight, and install some applications to see how much of a set-top box I can make it.

But now, dinner and checking to see when my fibre (to the home) connection is being set up.

But this is also the company that has just shut down some what 100 stores? Including my local one in Basingstoke. My "local" is now some 30 minutes drive away!

@gemini

I gather that would be the one in the Oracle Shopping centre, which is in fact rather pathetic and small really (even by Dixons standards).

The shut down the one here as well. Things ain't looking too good for them at the moment, but what do you expect really. Their stores are much too small to offer any kind of choice, somewhere like Comet or Currys is much better for buying electrical equipment.

Dixons aren't doing well at all at the moment, although whether this applies to the rest of the Dixons/DSG group I don't know, downturn might just be hitting the high street stores. I'd love to see my local PC World shut, grrrrr, hate those places.

Man......she's the hottest chick in the whole universe. She makes the chicks that were mentioned look fugly. If you don't believe me, just look at her new pictures in Stuff magazine. She looks ten times better than she does on the show. I nearly wet myself. Not revealing enough to buy the magazine though.

I am in total agreement with everything except the "not buying the magazine" part.
