@BrandonLee
There is a tutorial in the amiga-news.de forum by a person called "arutha" about how to run Earth 2140 on OS4. I will try to translate it. I hope it is ok for arutha.

Here it is:
Quote:

You need:
NallePuh

the update(s) from
http://dlh.net/cgi-bin/pat.cgi?lang=ger&cap=all&sort=date&count=25&sys=amiga
or from
http://www.epic-interactive.de/Website2004/downloads/E2140_English_020401.lha

a classic Amiga or WinUAE with a network card to run the updates and to transfer the data to the AmigaOne afterwards. The updates are using WPatch to actualize the exe files. Sadly, WPatch is refusing to work under os4, and without the updates you will only get this message:
Entering graphics mode.
Error: the available 640x480x16 screenmodes are not in bigendian RGB16 pixelformat

1. step - installation
Just install Earth2140 on a classic Amiga or on WinUAE and update it.

You should note the following:
If you want to play the Mission Pack, you will have to start it from Shell or with a Script. And if you update the Mission Pack under WinUAE, it won't run there anymore. But don't panic, if nothing works under WinUAE anymore, it will work under os4. And WinUAE should be capable to use the cd drive of the pc directly with an Amiga cd filesystem. Otherwise the update will fail here as well, because it must be able to access the cd.

2. step - onto the AmigaOne
Now the data must be transfered to the AmigaOne over the network. Or you just start the cd burner to get the installation to the AmigaOne.
Dont forget: Earth2140 creates a directory called Earth2140samples that is not visible, if you use a bigger installation. I don't know what will happen if you forget to copy it.

3. step - starting of Earth2140
Now you have to start NallePuh. So open the shell and enter "NallePuh 0x001e0002 44100". After that you start Earth2140. You should use the shell for this, so enter "cd Games:Earth2140", better use your own path to the Earth2140 drawer, then a "stack 65536" and finally "Earth2140.exe x800 P96WritePixelArray". Now it should already work.
Note:
The mode id 0x001e0002 for NallePuh certainly won't work on all AmigaOne's, because not everyone uses the same sound card. You can find the right value under Prefs/AHI in the AHI preferences window to the bottom left. It is found directly next to Mode ID. The 2nd value is just the frequency.
You must not forget the P96WritePixelArray, otherwise there will be just graphic garbage instead of fun.
Alternatively you can also just write down everything into a script, provide it with an icon and then start it with a double click. This is more convenient for sure.

A bad thing is that you can only see the mouse if you move it. Especially if you have to react quickly it is annoying when you have to find the mouse pointer first. The nice intro and the cut scenes are also currently not working. And you should not try to set half the map on fire, or the cpu will get to its knees quickly. I really mean half the map and not just the visible part. The speed is ok with a resolution of 800x600, but you will recognise the lack of the jit or WarpUp. Maybe you can try to leave away the x800 and play with a 640x480 mode first.

Well, I hope I didn't forget anything. It has been a while since I installed Earth2140.

@NutsAboutAmiga:

T-Zero seems to need a ton of memory. I got it working, but it crashed soon after.

I can only add about 4MB to each (chip and fast) memory bank. Is it possible to add more?

@Toaks:

Thanks for that tip!!! I'll try it as soon as possible.

@BrandonLee

you can add zorro mem (same as fast mem)

# Amount of chip memory to emulate
# in multiples of 512K. Thus chipmem=4 is 2MB
chipmem_size=4

# Amount of fast memory to emulate in MB
fastmem_size = 8
z3mem_size=16
gfxcard_size=4

@Toaks

Heh Toaks, one question about FreeSpace OS4... did you have to do anything special to get the sound working? I've updated to the OS4 version of Freespace and it plays, but there's no sound output

Aye, it's enabled in the GUI but nothing out of the speakers. I have emailed HJF (last week) but I still have no reply. Nevermind. Wasted money I guess

Fixed it. I just deleted the Freespace.prefs file and re-ran and saved some new prefs. Works lovely now
