Radeon Warp3D Sound

Hi All,

This is an odd one.

If I use my Radeon 7000 AGP card with Warp 3D running the sound will go all distorted (WipeOut, GLMatrix when playing audio with a music player, etc..). However, my old Voodoo 3 (PCI) with Warp3D has no audio distortion at all (and is faster)!

Does anyone know why the sound distortion occurs?

I'm using a standard Sound Blaster 128!

Cheers,
Bean.

@Bean

Ive heard its a know problem with the radeon, it happens when warp3d and the warpos wraper are used in conjunction, eg wipeout.
The voodoo 3 drivers dont have this problem at the moment and that why its fine with this and also the voodoo drivers have been around longer and are more optimised which would explain the greater speed.
Hope that helps.

@Toaks

Yes Mr Toaks Sir!

A1XE 7450 - No Fix, but stable as anything, even FTP'ing large data (see other threads)
VCORE 1.64 800 Mhz.
Radeon 7000 32MB VE
2 Banks of RAM - 256M CL2 and 512M CL3 (Using CL3 (slowest speed) - reported by UBoot)
0x1274 0x5880 Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI
0x1095 0x0680 Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 0680 UltraATA/133 EIDE Controller
Anyway, I've put the Radeon on the shelf for the moment and am using the Voodoo 3. I just love playing Heretic II on HW render!

Cheers.
Bean.

@Bean

Best get my Voodoo3 in my AmigaOne then!

It does sound like the imaturity of the Radeon drivers which seem to be the probelm here - I've noticed it myself with Wipeout 2097 and the GLMatrix screensaver.
