Having decided that the new Amiga needed cutting edge hardware to promote OS 4 and with current market forces AMICUS had to be scaled back and a possible production run of the new motherboard (Bellow) put back to the first qaurter of 07.The initial pricing will be around $750.32 .The motherboard will come in ATX and Mini ITX and i will make sure you cannot fit it in a A500,A600 or A1200 case and to keep MOS users and AOS happy comes in a colour combination of Red White & Blue.

Specs of the new motherboard can be found here

@BADHead

I like especially the fact that it is passively cooled.

@Mr_Capehill

My concern is, of course, in regard to availability of replacement parts.
What happens in the event of a "bead" breakage?

Best Wishes,

@BADHead

I voted 'Price too high'. If it was just $749.86, I'd buy one TODAY!!!!11!

@Step

OK. THAT problem solved.
Then what about the networking issues with other abacuses?
Will it be entirely compatible with those using "plastic" beads?

Edit(Added):Re-read spec sheet and changed "wooden" to "plastic".

Best Wishes,

Nah, there will most likely be a network kit, sold seperatly at a fraction of Microsofts total assets.

@Curty

Not to worry. Extra rods and beads available for a modest sum.
Assuming, of course, that you were referring to the math processor.

Best Wishes,

@BADHead

The product is tilting, wonder if it is an autoreset or a case of bad QA. I am still unsure if i can use it from all sides though, maybe there could be a transparent unit aswell.

@Step

Sheeesh! Give @BADHead a chance to get the basic model on the market before you
start clamoring for upgrades, OK?

Best Wishes,

@BADHead

Do I get a discount if I purchase a dozen of them.
Also, I want little red maple leafs on the white beads.

@Severin

Sorry to have to mention that early reports from beta testers using this model
say that the unit was made a little too small and, as a result, the "beads"
are directly hitting the hardware.

Best Wishes,

I wouldn't worry about it too much, there will probably be a harware fix available for the old boards and I'm sure the problem will be solved for the 'µAMICUS'

@Severin

Well, uh, OK. Just so its entirely backward compatible with my early evaluation
board which only has 3 rows of beads.

Best Wishes,
