Hearing more and more that soundblaster users got problems while playing audio and running w3d apps at the same time...(amigaone XE&upd4). Then the sound begins to krack and scatt aso. I know this Problem was there before but for me as a microa1 user never got those problems. Ahi prefs are right and interrupt=yes. Radeon 7000&7500.

Someone can help ?

@Mangaclub

Try with an older version of AHI. The latest public AHI has a few issues, I'm using ahi.device 6.2 here which works well.

@AmigaPapst

Version 6.2 is available on OS4 depot, but it doesn't cure the problem.

If I use the onboard audio (A1XE) then it's almost perfect (but not quite).
If I use my old SB128 the problem is much more apparent.

It seems to occur when the GFX chip (or CPU?) gets bogged down.

Cheers,
Bean.

Maybe it is a pci latency issue?? I know this VIA chipset had severe latency issues on the x86 platforms atleast.

I was under the impression that, under Update 3, it was a Radeon driver problem.

Play some music with any music player, I recommend TuneNet , & run the GLMatrix screen saver. You'll hear a lovely flanger effect. Not that you're meant to.

Playing Wipeout 2097 gives a similar sound.

@FuZion

I have to test that until i get home.
But regarding to Wipeout, sounds haven't ever work correctly on me.
Always somekind krackling and popping has appeared.
BUT now with update 4 the symptoms has get more minor, but not disappeared.

@Mangaclub

I'm running a M-Audio revolution 7.1 and I have the same problems.
I've done a test between a radeon 7000 and 9200 and got almost the same results. The 9200 wasn't as prone to distortion but it still happens.
I think users with voodoo cards don't have this issue. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Hope this helps.

Cheers
Wardy...

@Mangaclub

I’m only using Update 3 and Radion7000 onboard sound, the programs I have the most problems whit is GLMatrix and WipeOut2097, I think GLMatrix eats lots of CPU power and WaipOut looks like it heavy to, don’t run at prefect, some times stops for a half a second, before it show the next few frames, whit GLMatrix you can adjust it whit a lower resolution, and less rescue the number of vertical scrolling texts, this helps, I noticed that WipeOut2097 is rendering all walls transparent and not solid, the same thing whit Heretic II, all walls are transparent.

Is there any improvement to the transparency thing in Update 4?

Do i update Os4 to V4 ?

@The_Editor

It’s only a problem when you playing a 3D game, it’s not problem whit 2D gfx from my experience on update 3.

@Mangaclub

Yes, I have this problem;-( Tested with Ati Radeon 7000 and 9200se on my AmigaOneXe. Soundcard is a Soundblaster Audigy z2.

Also with an older ahi version 6.2 it does not function.

Yes, that's been fixed. Just tried it on update #4 and it didn't have those problems anymore with the MiniGL driver enabled.
