| Seeing that Update 4 provides the new AmiSSL V3, i hope there will be a new version of AWebPPC to use it soon. Otherwise i hope Grande Paihia and AMozilla FireFox will arrive to OS4 soon |

Does Ibrowes v. 2.3 work with Amissle v 3? After looking at the Amissl website this is what I thought would happen, but I Ibroswes says "unable to open appropriate ssl module..." Also, is there a demo of v. 2.4? Can you have Amissl v1.x, v2.x and v3x all installed at once? Thanks! |

I was wondering if that would be possible. To install version 1 and 2, while also having number 3... |

Ibrowse 2.3 uses Amissl v2.x, Ibrowse 2.4 will use ssl3. And in response to your question to having all three installed at once, yes you can but I dont exactly know how (There is a thread around somewhare with it in, when I find it ill give you a shout). _________________ A1XE G4 800mhz,512mb,Radeon9200,SonyDRU-510A and 800a,ESI Juli@, Sil680, WiFi. |

I saw an "SSL v3" option in the preferences for Ibrowse 2.3. However it doesn't seem to be able to use it yet. AFAIK there isn't an Ibrowse 2.4 demo yet.

I could try to install both versions...
AWeb uses AmiSSL V1, while IBrowse 2.3 uses AmiSSL V2...

But AmiSSL 2 does have SSL v3, so there's no unusable option in IB 2.3.

Oh , so what's the difference between AmiSSL2 & 3 then?

I knew it was a post from you. Big smiley in the topic. Say you did talk about AmiSLL in here also. Thought I would let you know just in case you forgot about that one. |
Yes, he just wants to know how to get Ibrowse working with ssl. I do too, in fact this will probably be how I decide if I should buy Ibrowse or not. After looking at the Amissl website it seems that v. 2 and 3 should be interchangeable, but Ibrowse doesn't work. What I would like to know is can you have both v. 2 and 3 installed at the same time. I already have v. 1 working working fine with Aweb and v. 3 as it comes with os4. Does anyone have Ibrowse working on update 4 and how. Many thanks to one and all!

Maybe you mix something here!
AmiSSL is the name given from the porter to make OpenSSL (where it derived from) unique on the Amiga (and clones) platforms.
There are also encryption mechanisms (sp?) that uses AmiSSL(OpenSSL), which are:
SSLv2 SSLv3 (maybe this puzzled you, Hans?) and TSLv1
these were all in AmiSSL from the beginning. (AmiSSL1)
The difference now between AmiSSL2 and AmiSSL3 is, that v3 is OS4 native AND has the latest encryption available (AES cipher, 256-bit key) which wasn't in v2 (max was 168bit key).
Hope that clears things a bit |

Getting and installing AmiSSL: AmiSSL
Just follow the instructions, it even says that AmiSSL V1, V2 and V3 can all be installed at the same time.
This will not make AWeb work with AmiSSL V3, but it will enable AWeb to use AmiSSL V1. Last edited by shadow on 19-Feb-2006 at 07:42 PM. Last edited by shadow on 19-Feb-2006 at 07:41 PM.

No need to ask God. But I've had some IRL issues that have taken up more than time than I'd planned and other bugs that have proven more troublesome so Grande Paihia is running late (as in more than 6 months) again. Sorry, but work is ongoing - I do get in currently about 6 hours a week coding.

I see where it says you can install both v1 and 2, but it makes is sound like v3 is the os4 replacement for v2. Am I missing something on the Amissl web site?

From Amissel website: Note that AmiSSL v2 is not a replacement for AmiSSL v1. These two can coexist if you are using programs written for different AmiSSL versions. |
