| First-level bootloader: entered main First-level bootloader: got 1 valid boot sources AmigaOS4 first-level bootloader. Scanning HDD ... Entered find_sec_bl_start Loadsector failed Found an HD FLB: no SLB found in any of the designated boot sources; returning to u-boot. Press any key to continue _
I tried the AmigaOS 4.0 Final CD because I thought I had a memory of this disc having the resources to re-create the SLB, but nothing on the Media Toolbox seemed to offer solely SLB-writing!
I shirked at re-installing the OS since there's been an update mid-this year, and I have no empty partition anyway! Last edited by vortexau on 27-Sep-2007 at 08:23 AM.

Use media Toolbox.
1. Select your device 2. Select your hard drive 3. Select "Edit RDB/Install" option 4. Select option "Install AmigaOne booter"
You might have to select "Remove AmigaOne booter" first to make sure it is not there. There is a "Save booter back to file" option, but I am not sure if this is just a back-up of your RDB, or the SLB used. Hope that helps

I've already done that twice, having selected the actual DH0: L/ directory last time (for some reason 1st time it tried L/ on CD) and am now trying it for the third time.Quote:

Well, third attempt but no change . . .
still lists Devices 0:, 1:, 2:, 3: then- First-level bootloader: entered main First-level bootloader: got 1 valid boot sources AmigaOS4 first-level bootloader. Scanning HDD ... Entered find_sec_bl_start Loadsector failed Found an HD FLB: no SLB found in any of the designated boot sources; returning to u-boot. Press any key to continue _ So, having once again booted from the CD and take the steps I find that (as before) slb_v2 27,829 is in OS4:L/ ?Last edited by vortexau on 26-Sep-2007 at 01:02 PM. I have slb_v2 in Sys:l/ version 1.16 (21/01/2006), and 27,829 in size.
Can you check if yours is the same, maybe it is corrupted.

The RDB/disk geometry editing tool shows- OS4:L/slb_v2, 27829 bytes, ver. 1.16 in Currently installed box. _________________ -vortexau, who's A1 XE-G4 remains at half-RAM ! A2000HD (from 1991) 060 64Mb PicassoII with OS3.5 . . . still working. |

Mine shows AmigaOS4_CD:slb_v2, 27828 bytes, ver. 1.16, but I don't have to boot with the cd in the drive, so I think this is just the source of the slb when it was installed. I know this is a stupid question, but have you actually looked for the existance of slb_v2 in OS4:L/? (just exploring all avenues)

Check your U-boot settings for the boot device. _________________

Well, I was able to select which OS partition, then select the L directory for actual operation. Finally by the use of a directory utility (CLI by name, not the shell/cli) I accessed both L dirs in OS4:, and in Alt_OS4: slb_v2, 27828 bytes, ver. 1.16 in both . . . although Alt_OS4: has No_Linux ver and non_sfs ver in addition to straight ver._________________ -vortexau, who's A1 XE-G4 remains at half-RAM ! 'course that denotes which 'boot device should be attempted first'. The non-working boot is with CD-Rom drive empty.
DH0: is set boot priority 5, and DH3: (Alt_OS4) is boot priority 3._________________ -vortexau, who's A1 XE-G4 remains at half-RAM ! A2000HD (from 1991) 060 64Mb PicassoII with OS3.5 . . . still working. |

You can delete the SLB from L: directory because the SLB is not loaded from there!!!
The SLB is loaded from the RDB of your disk!!
Use “media toolbox” to install the SLB!!!
1. Select your device 2. Select your hard drive 3. Select "Edit RDB/Install" option 4. Select option "Install AmigaOne booter"
select the SLB from your boot CD

Reset U-boot to factory default, then try again, maybe tiring load the OS different disk, or maybe primary disk is disabled in u-boot.
Then try re installing SLB to RDB, maybe the SLB is corrupted.

U-Boot settings unchanged from yesterday when OS4 worked okay. I've only changed a zero in 'l2cr' Debian value for 'bootm' script.
Primary drive is DebianPPC only: Quantum Fireball on secondary bus is the AmigaOS drive.
U-Boot starts, or should start, AmigaOS in its :Default Configuration and that is what's shown in U-Boot Boot Select on the four colour Menu System
Note: This isn't mine . . . mine shows :Onboard VIA IDE CDROM and my Boot arguments for Linux is different.
I've re-installed SLB v2 several times already, to DH0:L/ and DH3:L/_________________ -vortexau, who's A1 XE-G4 remains at half-RAM ! A2000HD (from 1991) 060 64Mb PicassoII with OS3.5 . . . still working. |

I still think the problem is your U-boot configuration. Please enter the U-boot menu and go to "Boot Sequences/Amiga Multiboot Options" What is set there for "Boot Device 1", "Boot Device 2" and "Boot Device 3"?

Because that's where UBoot is looking for the SLB? It's not looking in L:, it's looking in the RDB. Of the first drive, I would think. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C).
