| Everytime when I drag some icon(s) on the Workbench to move it(them) somewhere else, then the mouse pointer freezes and returns the icon(s) at the start position. Bug or I'm miss something? _________________

Are you using DOpus4? Do you iconify it to a titlebar with a clock showing seconds?
If so, try changing the iconification to a regular appicon and find another way to show the time (e.g. LimpidClock).
Worked for me. There must be something in the way DOpus' titlebar clock works which interrupts Workbench long enough that it drops the dragging.
But I haven't had time yet to see if the latest updates to DOpus4 has solved the problem, so if they have, another remedy is to update DOpus4 to the latest one ZeroHero released.
Best regards,

Thanks. You were right. DOpus iconification was the problem. I downloaded the last from OS4Depot, so the problem is still here. _________________

And me too. And I don't have any DOpus.
I've mentioned the problem on the Yahoo! OS4 group, and found one other person who has the problem there, but no solution.
If I move an icon quickly, and short distances at a time, I can usually get it where I want. For example, one of my icons is a text file where I keep track of my crashes, and if I open Notepad and move it right next to the icon, I can usually drop the icon in the window.
It is annoying all the same. |

The problem for me was DOpus. I installed the latest from Aminet (not OS4Depot) and everything is working like a charm.
Is there any other program running at the background when you do that? _________________

Me too on A1... it happens for example when AmiFTP update its content, or Workbench are copying something... Last edited by ShInKurO on 07-Nov-2008 at 06:55 AM. Last edited by ShInKurO on 07-Nov-2008 at 06:55 AM. Last edited by ShInKurO on 07-Nov-2008 at 06:54 AM.

| It happens here when using transparency/compositing on the windows.
If I turn transparancy off, no problems.

| This kind of problem frequently occurs when programs lock or unlock the workbench screen on a regular basis. Watch out for anything that updates a status display or similar in a window.

| It's a problem that's bugging me with an MP3 player application I'm working on. Any time I try to change the tags associated with a GadTools gadget (the track position slider in particular) I'll get that effect, effectively ruling out drag n drop while a song is playing. I've been trying to find another way of moving the slider but no joy. It seems that, like Rogue said, anything updating a window in a certain way can do this to the Workbench screen. _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |

Now that AmigaOS4.1 has support for alpha channels for layers, would it be possible to have nonblocking drag'n'drop by using borderless windows for the icons (similar to how nonblocking menus are implemented)? Last edited by salass00 on 07-Nov-2008 at 03:15 PM.

| Hmmm... Think I spoke too soon... The Thilo include doesn't really seem to do what I want at all - I had the debug output turned on and that's what fixed the issue At the moment I can't use the AttemptLockLayerRom() call because I don't know how to get a layer pointer from my window struct. Any ideas? *win\WLayer doesn't work...
At the moment I'm using BeginRefresh() and EndRefresh() as a workaround but I'm sure that's totally inefficient. Last edited by Daedalus on 09-Nov-2008 at 12:36 PM.
