| Suddendly the RAM icon changed position (was at the top-left corner always), but now it's underneath the last partition icon on Workbench. Apparently doing a snapshot doesn't help things; anyone remember how we could snapshot the RAM icon? Last edited by Phantom on 24-Aug-2010 at 04:52 PM.

(Un)snapshot the other icon which is in the way.
Or, if you want to be able to snapshot the RAM icon permanently, put this in to s:user-startup:
makelink ram:disk.info envarc:sys/def_ram.info soft
But be aware that Workbench does not let disk icons overlap. So if the other icon is loaded before the RAM icon, snapshotting the RAM icon does not have any effect unless you snapshot the other icon, too (at another position).

You can't snapshot it as it is not a 'real' icon, you may be able to snapshot the deficon in sys:prefs/env-archive/sys - not sure if this would work though.
Sure you didn't snapshot a HD icon where you want RAM Disk by mistake? |

Actually you don't need the link. When you snapshot the icon and thereby create ram:disk.info. Then copy this to envarc:def_ram.info. As WB looks for env:def_drive.info if there is no drive:disk.info it will take the icon with correct position (next boot). And as you probably don't snapshot/move RAM that often, the link is not (really) needed.

The only thing I done before was to snapshot Skinnable Clock's position in the top-right corner; I don't know if that affected my previously RAM icon position (which was always at the top-left corner). Last edited by Phantom on 24-Aug-2010 at 02:36 PM.

I've had this problem too and it is really annoying. Workbench seem to allocate quite a bit more space for each icon than the actual graphics. this means that if any invisible space overlaps a snapshotted icon will refuse to stay there.
Since you suddenly got this, maybe you have changed your WB font or something which would make each icon take more space?
Try moving the other icons down a bit and snapshot them and the RAM icon should stay in place.
If you really like to snapshot it, just do so. Then copy the RAM:disk.info file to ENVARC:Sys/def_ramdisk.info and it should be fine the next boot (unless some other icon is in the way). _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

Aha! Now I remember. I changed wallpaper, and as it was dark, I had to change the color of the icon fonts from black to white and I enabled also the shadow, so that's the matter I pressume.
Thanks, I will try it later._________________

| Thanks my friend, that fixed the problem. With a simple snapshot (no need to copy anything else). _________________
