the small micro market is now full of AmigaOne, Pegasos, MacMini, Sam440, so they don't have any idea how to go on.
It's hard to choose a new machine when many of amiga users have 2 or 3 models of amiga ng (OS4 and MOS compliant) and relative licence.
The only way to sell some more copies, it to migrate on Sam4x0..

Good luck MOS-Team

Good move! Hope the 440 differs not too much in order to make it running there too ; )

@nubechecorre
I'd be interested to hear the reasoning for this. (Not that I disagree... but I thought they thought the future was low-cost second-hand PPC Macs. So either they've now changed their position, or else I misunderstood their position. Or else a lone dev decided to do it just because he could. Or something else!)

Anyway, seems like good news. Wasn't AROS ported to the Sam460 already? Then that means all "flavours" now run on ACube's baby, which can only be good for sales.

@ChrisH

likely it was just easy after aros has made their way. i dont think mos team would bother if this was too much work. im curious if this is just a demo like g5 some time ago, or is it going to be oficially released soon.

@ChrisH

The reasoning is probably very simple: The more the merrier.

I think Acube were interested in a port since a long time. More OS4 users should get the chance to try out OS4 and those ppl complaining about no new hardware for MorphOS have a reason less to complain.

Supporting teh Sam460 is no turn in strategy (no Apple hardware will magically stop being supported), but just an addition to the hardware pool which becomes bigger an bigger and should provide a match for everyone now:
Peg1 & 2, Mac mini, PowerMac G4, Powerbooks, some eMacs (all low cost and rather high peformance)
Efika5200 (low cost, low performance, new but EOL)
coming:
Sam460 (mid performance, high cost, new not EOL)
PowerMac G5 (very high perfromance, low price)
more Powerbooks and some ibooks (laptops for all!)

15+ years later, some kind of unity. A single hardware platform which is able to run all Amiga operating systems.

Odd and unexpected.
The developmwnt team has always stated that Acube's Applied Micro processors were too weak.

Its also not listed on the hardware compatibility page yet.

Further, my Power mac will definately outperform the SAM460.

However, having an available PCIe slot (even one with only 4 lanes) is nice.

A faster alternate to the Efika. A picture is nice, but where's the real proof?

Looks like the MOS team has got revenge for OS4 working on the Pegasos.

Now, where is that MOS emulator for OS4? Time for a fight back!

How AROS made it easy? Changes to SAM460 U-Boot code? Ports are not related to each other at all...

TBH the only thing in this blurry as hell picture that "suggests" that the computer in question may be a Sam460ex is that it has a window open (maybe MultiView) with an image of the Sam460ex logo in it, which if that was to be considered proof of MOS running on a Sam460ex then I could just as easily post similar "proof" of Windows XP running on a µA1 f.e.

Strange that they support low spec and expensive hw.

@salass00

The picture is true...

I'm posting here the news I submitted, waiting for the approval.

After a short period of absence, Pianeta Amiga is back with this year edition that is maninly focused on the software side of development.

These are the main higlights from the show:

- AmigaOS update 6 is being demoed on several Sam4x0/AmigaOne 500 machines
- Sirion USB3 xhci prototype driver has been shown working on AmigaOS 4
- MorphOS 3.2 on Sam460ex (AKA Project Naomo) is being demoed by Frank Mariak and also on a couple of Powerbooks. Please note that Project Naomo is stil in early stage of development.
- Aros for PPC is also demoed at the show
- Digibooster 3 Beta is running (and playing!) under AmigaOS 4.1 update 6
- In occasion of Pianeta Amiga 2012, Pietro Ghizzoni, current owner of AMOS Pro sources after Francois Lionet ceased development, has kindly agreed to release them as Public Domain. You can download the full package in advance from http://www.pianetaamiga.it. Sources will be also put on Aminet in the next days
- Mario Locati is showing Linux Debian Squeeze, Debian Wheezy and Ubuntu 12.04 running on Sam460ex. He will also show the new versions of Sketchblock (1.8), Abiword (2.8.6), Gnumeric (1.10.17) and The Gimp (2.6.11).
- In the afternoon (local time) Andrea AFX Palmatč will release his latest game port: Equilibrio: http://www.amigasoft.net/pages/games/

On the hardware side, a new batch a Sam460ex (with red PCB ), Minimig with 4MB RAM and the brand new ARM Controller are on sale and available.

That's all (for now).

Doesn't matter much to me either way. I was just saying that the picture posted by the OP proves about absolutely nothing and without any official confirmation from MOS developers (which there is now I guess) I wouldn't put much stock by it.

Yes, you can consider it confirmed as cyfm is demoing it in person in italy.
