Hi,

Today I suddenly got this JXfileSystem request error saying:

DH2
has a blockid error in block 7147648.
Expected was blockid 0x4449424D,
but the block says it is blockid 0x54525354

Reread Cancel

What to do? You can't run a check/fix on this.

After a few Reread click I do get the message:

restorecachebuffer: Fatal error - cachebuffer is of wrong type!
Please notify the author!

If it was me I backup the HD, and format it asap.

It is just the DH2 partition so formatting that should be enough.

Lucky it's just applications. I got all my other partitions as JX as well. No issues with them. I am not really sure but it seems to come up only when I run OWB from that partition.

A word of sdvice, JXFS is no longer updated. Do yourself s favor & backup those partitions & use SFS instead. For that matter, I don't think SFS is updated either, but it has fewer problems.

So in other words he is no longer involved with AOS? What IS supported then, FFS? I have had no issues with either SFS or JFS but it can be good to know if anything is supported when it comes to filesystems.

What the heck happened with him? He dropped OWB and now JFS and also SFS? Got scared of the situation with AOS like some others?

He still posts on the beta ml, so still involved with os4 somehow. No idea why he quit updating the filesystems, maybe a new one being developed, hope so.

I wouldn't worry about about existing FS we have as long as backups are kept, they work very well for the most part.

Did you also notify the author?

One of these days we will need recovery software for these filesystems. JXFS supports the maximum volume and file sizes but it will be no better than an invalidated FFS volume if it corrupts with no recourse!

SFS is good up to 128GB. But it only has files 32-bit length. If you want a bigger partition or 64-bit file lengths like I did on the X1000 then you have to go SFS2. But it's in the same boat as JXFS.

Are you seriously saying that nobody is maintaining ALL the filesystems for os4? Because that is ludicrous, if so. Someone should take that on immediately, as without a reliable filesystem, the whole OS is jeopardised.

It doesn't have to be a core OS4 developer, but someone has to do it!

JXFS never been an official OS filesystem AFAIK. It was just a contribution.

We have a reliable filesystem with a repair tool available. It's FFS2

I had a problem once. You have no choice than reformating the partition.

I think it was recommended often regardless by both testers and users.

I had the same problem recently with a JXFS partition, the one that had all my internet browsers/tools etc on it. Nothing to do but reformat.....
