| Aloha folks! Having upgraded the X1000 to 4.1FE over the weekend, I'm having a slight quirk on the fonts, having tried (and to all intents and purposes succeeded) to reinstate various ttf and otf fonts I was using on 4.1u6.
The type manager imports fine and reports all outline fonts, including examples, perfectly but the font requester is showing 'fontname.otag' in the list and no sample. If I manually remove the .otag extension in the font name box in the requester, it picks it up as correct and allows me to use it. If I opt to use them by doing this, they will continue to show in the requester as you would expect until I stop using it. Bitmap fonts are obviously not affected but ALL outline fonts are.
Any ideas on what I did (other than run fixfonts) and how to fix it?
Many thank yous. _________________ Karma: Positive |

Yes, ironically you ran fixfonts.
There's a known ( and now fixed) bug in DiskFont 53.8. The reason it slipped through is that it's hidden by the font cache which is reset by fixonts. There is actually no need to run fixfonts for outline fonts.
Long term solution is wait for an amiupdate ( hopefully long term in effect but sooner in deleivery).
Short term work arround choose all the fonts you are likely to want, by manually typing their names until, you've put them all in the cache.

Same problem here. Assumed I had screwed something up so have been too embarrassed to mention it until how. :) _________________

Ha, I had a feeling that was going to be the case! I only ran fixfonts because originally the newly installed fonts were showing with the otag extension - but then they all went screwy. *sigh* OK, I'll just have to swear at it for now :)
@mbrantley
:) No, no - there's two silly people now .. I suspect there may be more.Last edited by Drule on 05-Jan-2015 at 09:09 PM.
