Take a look at this interesting post made by Stefan Burström (at least, it should be him) on ANN:

http://www.ann.lu/comments2.cgi?show=1098477702&category=news&number=95#comment

I really hope this news will be confirmed! If so, it looks like the patch involved some hardware modifications, too, as mentioned by Don Cox in a reply to that comment.

and what about waiting some more before discussing this ?
If some things have to be said, they will be.

You're right. I was just happy to read that statement.

@Varthall

I believe he is referring to the hardware patch for the XE board. Could be wrong, though.

@Varthall

The patch is under testing on my machine right now, and as soon as it has been tested on a broader range of board, we will make the patch available

@Yabba

is the patch software only or will we need to do some HW patch too?

Thx.

Looks like a hardware patch is required (as well as a slftware one?) from what is mentioned in that thread!

Why not discuss it? It's hardly a state secret that a fix for the UDMA lock-up problem was being tested.

I'm very interested to hear if this fix has been tested on SE boards, because there's been no mention of anything but the XE up till now.

@mbilla

Look what he said here

Only a few bits from this thread:
Quote:
Anyone with basic electronic skills should be able to do this. No chips has to be added. The patch consists of cutting a few traces and adding a few patch wires.
