AMITorrent is almost ready..

| Thanks to SieGel (many many many many thanks..) AMITorrent, a porting of CTorrent is almost ready. Now I' working on debug and on GUI.

Call me thick... but i could never workout how to use bittorrent !!
The only instructions I could ever find stated I had to enter the url of the torrent I wanted to connect to....
well duh!! How the hell would anyone know what that would be ? Thats the whole point of P2P. To automatically scan for files.

this is only a tracker. To search torrent files you need a program that can find it. However there are many sites that allow to download a .torrent file that can be used with a tracker. _________________

Yes, LimeWire is written in Java.
And it's just a Gnutella client, so why not use Amigift instead? :)
BTW, it's great to see BitTorrent ported for Amiga. _________________

I went to sourceforge and took a look at AmiGift..
/me wonders whether I have to install original build then latest patches ..
Or have they built the updates into a complete new version ?

I dl it 2 times, tried an tried for hours to install and get it to work.
You have to download the main part, then the two updates and install it right
after another, B U T i NEVER get it to work. It shortly crashes after start.
One can't change anything in prefs nor trying to get online.
Me thinks there is a nasty bug inside the exe.
Sad, i'd love to try it. |
